Mallow

Mallow is a character in 1996 Super Nintendo release Super Mario RPG. In the course of the game, Mallow is the second character to join the list of playable characters, after Mario initially encounters him while visiting the Mushroom Kingdom. His Thunderbolt skill, which attacks all enemies at a low cost, makes him a powerful ally throughout the game.

Mallow was found by Frogfucius, a sage amphibian meant to clearly be a play on the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Mallow was raised to believe the he was a tadpole, despite the fact that he looks nothing like the aquatic creatures. Later in the game, Mallow learns that he is not in fact a tadpole, but the long-lost son of King and Queen Nimbus, rulers of Nimbus Land, a mythical weather kingdom. Mallow and the rest of the party (including Mario, Geno, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser) arrive to defeat the usurping Valentina and Dodo, avian creatures that have seized control of the kingdom. Subsequently, the King and Queen Nimbus are restored to power, and the newly-rechristened Prince Mallow is reintroduced to his birth parents before accompanying the party to defeat the villainous Smithy, recapture the Star Pieces and restore the Star Road.

Mallow's basic attacks consist of either simple punching, bludgeoning weapons (such as walking sticks), or cymbals. As the son of the mystical Nimbus monarchs, Mallow possesses control over the weather, a skill that increases with his power levels. Eventually Mallow can conjure thunderstorms, lightning bolts, snowstorms, or shooting stars to attack the enemy or use an HP rain to sustain the life force of his team.
