==Premise== |

The film describes a dispute between poetess [[Else Lasker-Schüler]] and her publishers. The film takes place in [[Berlin]] before, during and after [[World War I]] and deals with an author's rights, according to [[Karl Marx]]: "A writer is judged as productive, not on the amount of ideas he produces, but on the amount of money his publisher is able to profit from his works." <ref>Karl Marx: Theorien über den Mehrwert, Hrsg. Brintrup began making films — from the very beginning, they were mostly non-narrative essays on music and poetry — in 1968. He studied Journalism, History of Art and the Romance Languages at the University of Münster (Germany). From 1972, he studied at a film school in Rome (Italy). Part of his thesis entitled "Literature in Films" (1975) is his short film "My miracles", seven poems by [[Else Lasker-Schüler]], in German language. He went on to make films as an independent filmmaker. His first bigger film was “Spielregel für einen Wiedertäuferfilm” (1976) - (Rules For a Film about Anabaptists), which was shown at the 1977 [[International Film Festival Rotterdam]] and [[Berlin International Film Festival]] (Internationales Forum des Jungen Films) . From 1979 on, he started directing films for German, Italian and Brazilian television. He is also author of 30 radio plays. |
