Subiksha[1] is an Indian actress who has appeared in Malayalam , Kannada and Tamil language films. She was launched by Tamil director P. Bharathiraja in the Tamil film Annakodi (2013) and she made her malayalam film debut in the same year and appeared in kannada films.
Early life
Subiksha was born as Abinaya to Krishnamoorthi and Laavanya. [2] Her father hails from Palakkad, Kerala, while her mother is a classical dance teacher from Bellary, Karnataka.[1] Subiksha completed her schooling at Bellary as well as in Chennai. She has also completed the Aadal Kalaimani course in Bharata Natyam.
Career
Subiksha made her acting debut in Bharathiraja's 2013 Tamil film Annakodi, in which she portrayed the wife of the hero.[2] The same year she had her first starring role in her maiden Malayalam film Olipporu. She played the role of an IT professional in the film,[3] which opened to negative critical response.[4][5][6] She had two released in 2014, her debut Kannada film Anjada Gandu,[7][8] and the Vikraman directorial Ninaithathu Yaaro in Tamil, both of which released on the same date.[9] She played the female lead in Anjada Gandu and her performance was met with mixed reviews. While Deccan Herald wrote that Subiksha was "convincing in her understated role",[10] The Times of India stated that she "could have done a better job",[11] and Sify wrote, "though she doesn't mesmerize the audience, her potential as an actor is visible".[12]
In 2015, Subiksha appeared in three Malayalam films. Her first release was the long-delayed Kanthari directed by Ajmal and produced by R Prabhu Kumar, in which she portrayed Sulthana, who hails from a traditional Muslim family but "is a modern girl",[13] Her following releases were Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, in which she made a cameo appearance. In her final release of that year, ATM-Any Time Money, directed by Jespal Shanmughan, she played a rich traditional girl who falls in love with a man from the slums. Upcoming projects of Subiksha include Balaji Sakthivel's Ra Ra Rajasekhar,[14] Greengara Oosai, directed by Mahesh Nair, the bilingual horror film Girls, made in Tamil and Malayalam, featuring an all-women cast,[15] Kadugu Tamil Project with Director Vijay Milton and the English film Drawing Bloods.[16]
