He has called for a common African currency as a means to achieve economic integration throughout the continent. He is Chairman of the North West Rail line running from Chingola to Solwezi in Zambia. The $1bn project, in partnership with Zambian government, is part financed by the African Development Bank and the Development Bank of Southern Africa.
