Tracey Snelling is an American contemporary artist. Working with sculpture, video, and photography, her work often "evokes a sense of place and the various underlying narratives within the given space."[1]

Early life and education

Snelling was born in Oakland, California. She learned about alternative processes and contemporary artists while attending a photography class in Northern California, and began to experiment with photography as contemporary art. She spent several years doing conservation work with the California Conservation Corps and firefighting with the U.S. Forest Service, before returning to school at the University of New Mexico to complete her BFA.
