Khalid Robinson (born February 11, 1998), better known by his stage name Khalid (pronounced 'KUH-LeeD'[1]), is an American singer and songwriter from El Paso, Texas. He is signed to Right Hand Music Group and RCA Records. He is best known for his debut single, "Location", which has peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and is currently his highest-charting single.
Early life
Khalid Robinson was born on February 11, 1998, in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He spent his childhood in various locations because of his mother Linda Wolfe's career in the military. Wolfe worked as a supply technician for over 10 years, and eventually earned a prestigious opportunity to sing in the US Army Band. Khalid's mother sacrificed opportunities to pursue her own artistic dreams in order to raise Khalid,[2] who spent parts of his childhood in a variety of locations including Fort Campbell in Kentucky, Fort Drum in Watertown, New York, and six years in Heidelberg, Germany. In high school he studied singing and musical theater. During his senior year of high school the family moved their location to El Paso, Texas.
Career
He reached No. 2 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart in July 2016, his single "Location" began charting, while Khalid began appearing on many publications' "Artists you need to know" lists, including Billboard,[3] Yahoo,[4] Buzzfeed,[5] and Rolling Stone.[6] With production from Syk Sense, Tunji Ige, and Smash David, "Location" finished the year 2016 at No. 20 on the Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart[3] and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart on January 21, 2017.[7] After premiering on The Fader,[8] the video netted over six million views in its first four months on YouTube, while the song was streamed 35 million times on Spotify.

His song, "Angels", was featured on the ABC drama series, Grey's Anatomy, in the episode entitled, "Don't Stop Me Now", which aired April 27th, 2017.
