Duncan Norvelle (born 1958, Loughborough,Leicestershire, England, UK) is a comedian in the finest traditions of variety who achieved prominence on television from the early 1980s. Renowned for his camp persona, Norvelle's act essentially revolves around the pretence that he is gay although he is also an accomplished impressionist and singer. In the mid-1980s, he recorded the pilot for a show which would become Blind Date although LWT executives elected not to proceed with him as host since his act was considered too risque. Despite this, Norvelle remained a performer in demand through the 1980s and continued to guest on numerous shows.

With the swing towards alternative more funny comedy, Duncans appearances on TV became fewer, while his live performances and his ego grew . For while the alternative comics could perform for 10 minutes on a TV show, many of them have not had the grounding of some of the UK best loved, i.e. shite comedians, and struggle to give a twenty minute performance never mind a solid hour plus. Duncan's average time on stage is an hour & half. They call him the Gay Governor. Well, at least his sister Nellie Norvelle does, though she did die before he was born.
