Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Mr. Guye (talk) 11:55, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
Deleted article
Hey, I thought I'd explain why the article was deleted. The problem is that while the series is notable, that doesn't mean that every aspect of the series is notable or merits a separate article in Wikipedia. This is typically called "fancruft" and while it can be used in a negative term, it basically can be boiled down as such: on Wikipedia some users use the term fancruft to describe the coverage of specific elements of a series that has not received enough coverage to merit an article apart from the main series. Of course many misuse the term and consider it to be automatically non-notable, which isn't always the case. However in this instance the problem is that the dwarf clans haven't received enough coverage independent of the series to really merit an article at this point in time. It's only ever covered in relation to the books (meaning a brief mention in sources about the book series itself) and hasn't gained enough coverage to where it'd be the same as say, elves on Middle-earth. It's kind of the type of thing that is better served in remaining in a fan wikia where the requirements for notability and article branch offs are far less strict than on here. You may be able to argue for an article specifically for coverage of dwarven characters in the series, meaning that rather than have an article that redirects people back to the character list, that you have a page named List of Inheritance Cycle dwarven characters. However before doing this, I'd recommend that you create the list in your userspace (like at User:Jiten Dhandha/List of Inheritance Cycle dwarven characters) and then ask for a consensus at Talk:List of Inheritance Cycle characters. - Hey, thanks for letting me know of this. I am really sorry for putting up this article. Must have been a trouble for you to verify it and checking if it is worthy. I will definitely take care too see if it is worth to be put on Wikipedia before posting another article :) Please feel free to post on my talk page and warn me of such endeavors. Jiten Dhandha (talk) 10:47, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- It's no problem at all. To be honest, I can see where you'd add it because there are similar-ish articles on Wikipedia and I did the same thing when I first signed up for Wikipedia. I went through the same learning process and had someone give me the same talk, so I figure that I knew where you were coming from with this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 15:05, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Copy-Editing "Brigade of Gurkhas"
(Project duration: 24th November 2016 to 27th November 2016).
Currently in the process of copy-editing the page "Brigade of Gurkhas". The copy-edited version of the page is in my sandbox. Some major changes to the organization of the article has been done along with fact checking and correction of a few grammatical errors here and there. This is my first copy-edit or rather I should say, first "major project" (if it can be called that) after returning to Wikipedia after a 2 year long break. If there are any suggestions or errors that I may have committed while doing the copy-edit, feel free to comment it here. I'm okay with the copy-edit being entirely rejected as well, since I re-learned a lot about editing Wikipedia after I took up this project.
- Regarding your Teahouse question, I was not aware of the "copy-editing brigade" and no one provided a link, but their talk page is definitely not Talk: Brigades of Gurkhas as that's just one article they'd be working on.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- I just changed the the heading here to "Brigade of Gurkhas" which was previously "Brigades of Gurkhas" (an honest mistake on my part). I was aware that there was no talk page called "Brigades of Gurkhas". What I wanted to know was if the person answering my Teahouse question was referring to something called the "copy-editing brigade" or if they were referring to the talk page of the page that I had just edited, that is, "Brigade of Gurkhas". Cheers for looking into the matter though. Jiten Dhandha (talk) 20:51, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
Eeek oops what?
Hi. Did your Mum not tell you to check edits? She should have! I have a bit of a feeling that this is not quite what you meant ... don't worry, I have zapped it for you. Have a nice day! Cheers DBaK (talk) 19:27, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! I saw that you reverted my edit, and I'd like to apologize for the mistake I committed. It's getting late at night here and I'm a bit sleep deprived right now. While copy-pasting the citation needed template, I seem to have made the error of pasting text from another edit I made a bit earlier. Thanks for being on the lookout! Attia Hosain
Dear Jiten,
Thank you for the message you sent me regarding what I wrote on the Attia Hosain page. At that time, I was still writing and rewriting the new content I was adding to that page, and therefore it came across as 'incoherent' and of bad quality. In fact, I had made a big revision over half-an-hour just at that time, but when I tried to save it, your message came up and my new work got lost. Therefore I was a little upset yesterday, but on re-reading your message today, I find that you mean well and have not been rude. I have also learnt over the past few days how to add references, and I was going to do that anyway. I will revise the page again today and tomorrow. I would request you to be a little patient during the time when the work is being done, so that new work is not lost again. The two books which Attia has written are among my favorites, but very little is known about her as a person and this is something which Wikipedia can help remedy. Take care and all wish you all the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.182.131.143 (talk) 09:21, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for your friendly message! Its not often that a person I've approached has replied back (mostly since I'm more active in reverting vandal edits and posting warnings on their pages). I re-read my message a few times and I can see how it could be misunderstood - I meant no harm at all, in fact I'm glad that there are new and upcoming editors to Wikipedia. I often scour the recent changes page and come across various kinds of edits - some blantant vandalism, some hidden, some good-faith edit but still written in non-encyclopedic style. In the cold, harsh tone and mindset of an anti-vandal, I reverted your edit (I knew that you meant well, and never doubted your intentions). The reason I reverted your edit was because someone who may visit the page during the process of its editing would find it hard to understand what was going on. Your work is still not lost by the way! Any edit made on Wikipedia is saved as an "archived revision" of the page. Your edit of "Attia Hosain" can be found here. If you want to work on the project for a long duration, the best course of action would be to create an account and using the "sandbox" which is a place where edits can be tested and large projects can be worked on (so that people dont have to see undone versions of the article). Cheers for reaching out to me! I'm glad we had this discussion. Happy editing and hope to see you around more often! Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 09:41, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi Jiten Dhandha. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 04:40, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Help with Editing Richard Hambleton birthdate.
Hi Jiten, I work for the gallery (Woodward Gallery in NYC) that represents the artists Richard Hambleton. They would like me to correct his birthdate on his Wiki Page. They sent me a document that proves his birthdate but I do not want to upload this document to the internet because it contains sensitive information. What should I do to correct the birthdate?
Thanks, Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 19:39, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Kwhipple90! I'm guessing this is regarding this revert edit I made. I'm a relatively new editor on Wikipedia, having made just over 700 edits, so I may not be familiar with everything Wikipedia-related, but I do have a fair-bit of knowledge on how to work about with things on this site. Your edit comes under the topic Biographies of living persons. Wikipedia has very strict policies about editing BLPs, so your concern would be best handled by people who are more familiar with the topic and have more experience with it. You can post your query on BLP Noticeboard and I'm sure people there will be more than happy to help you with it. Sorry I couldn't do better than to suggest another place to voice your concern - I would've loved to, but my knowledge falls short in this regard. Hope you get to make the corrected edit soon. Feel free to check back in if this helped you in any way. Happy editing! Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:04, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi Jiten. I have another question regarding the Richard Hambleton wiki page. We noticed that his website was changed back to richardhambleton.com. However that is not his official website. His official website is actually richardhambleton.art which has all of his biographical information, artist resume, exhibition history, a large selection of his works and news articles of past and present. The other website is promotional material to a documentary film going on at the Tribeca Film Festival and is not his official website. How do I get his official site changed back to richardhambleton.art? Thanks for your help! Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 14:30, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Kwhipple90! Information regarding the official website is not as sensitive (or controversial) as, lets say, birth-date or spouse/number of children. So you should be able to just change it without having much trouble. Change the information as per your requirements and make sure to mention the reason you stated here in the edit summary. If an editor reverts your edit or has an issue with your edit, you can explain in detail why you made the change on the talk page of Richard Hambleton: Talk:Richard Hambleton and notify the user concerned. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 18:22, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi Jiten. Thank you for your help last week and for changing the link to RichardHambleton.art. However someone keeps changing the website back to richardhambleton.com. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening? Thanks! Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 18:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! I saw that you created a new section on the talk page of Richard Hambleton, so thats the first step done! Keep in mind, the concerns of the other editors are valid, so its best to have a healthy discussion. It may happen that neither of the sites get to stay on the page. Since Wikipedia is a collective effort, no one editor has authority over a page and its content than another. You may have more experience with the person/article in concern, but if the consensus is that the site is not appropriate, then the article is changed based on that. I've put forth my comment regarding this issue on the talk page, we'll just have to wait and see how everything turns up :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:31, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Regarding the warnings
No problem. I'm new at huggle too :). I used it several times and today I discovered keyboard shortcuts (space for next and Q for revert and warn). --Zabshk (query) 20:14, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Zabshk: You're doing a very good job at it too! You beat me to several reverts by a few seconds! Looks like I need a lot of practice before I can make edits that quick on Huggle. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:18, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Huggle is a very powerful tool and I was very surprised when I saw how many edits I have done today. Fighting vandalism is my favourite job on Wikipedia (and other projects). --Zabshk (query) 20:25, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Zabshk: Too powerful for me I think. I gave it a shot again and ended up making another mistake. Well, it wasnt really a mistake due to inexperience with Huggle, but rather due to poor judgement of a good-faith edit. I think I'll be sticking to Twinkle for a while, since it offers less margin for error, and is actually built into the website version of Wikipedia. The one thing that I think Huggle is missing is that when you press Q to revert and warn, it posts the vandalism template in all cases. What I would've preferred is if it showed a pop-up that allowed the user to choose between the various commonly used templates (like section blanking and such). I'm sure there's a way to post those using Huggle, but I havent quite figured it out yet. I hope to be able to use it efficiently in the future though. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:18, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- Twinkle is good too. I made it global for myself (enabled on all projects) and I changed an addon to rollback all changes made by user (in all articles) to use twinkle, not built-in rollback (on many wikis I'm not rollbacker) and it's working perfectly (but still needs improvement) :).

Disambiguation link notification for April 20
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Little Einsteins episodes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Symphony No. 9 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- I am not authorized to make any changes on Wikipedia permanent - as a matter of fact, no one is. Not even admins or those at the top-most positions. The articles on Wikipedia are, and always have been, free to edit (save for some pages that only limited people have access to). This does not mean I cannot help you with this matter though. I am certainly no expert at articles that are biographies of living persons and Wikipedia has strict rules regarding information on these pages. Your article page falls under the same category. There's a few things I'd like to list here that might be of help:
- Your website is considered as a primary source of information as it is directly linked to you. Primary sources arent the best sources of information as they may have info written in a commercial or overly-flattering tone. Help with using primary sources can be found here.
- This may sound against the goal of an encyclopaedia, but editing articles that are about yourself is generally frowned upon as it can potentially violate neutral point of view and doing so is considered as a conflict of interest.
- These are just some technical aspects of editing that I felt you should be aware of before heading forward in this matter. However, as you have pointed out, if the information on the page is indeed false, then it is a serious problem. I'm unsure of what I can do to help in this matter, but I can certainly guide you where you can post your concerns. BLP Noticeboard sounds like the best place to post this - you can get some input from more experienced editors and even admins on how the issue can be resolved. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me. Here to help :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 15:06, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
