The Maluri station is a Malaysian Interchange rapid transit station located on the eastern fringe of Kuala Lumpur, situated near and named after Taman Maluri (Malay; English: Maluri Estate). The elevated station serves the Sentul Timur-Ampang branch of the Ampang Line (formerly known as STAR, and the Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines) while the underground station, scheduled to open in July 2017, will serve the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. and will serve as an interchange station to LRT's Ampang Line. The station is located at Jalan Cheras Lama near AEON-JUSCO Taman Maluri shopping centre. The station is located close to Jalan Cheras, close to Kerayong River, with access points towards the road and the eastern tip of Taman Miharja (Miharja Estate).

Alike to Masjid Jamek, the Ampang Line and MRT stations will be physically linked up once the Semantan-Kajang stretch commences operations. The paid zones of the two lines will be integrated and passengers are not required to exit the station and buy new tickets.

History

Ampang Line station

The station was first opened on December 16, 1996, as part of the first phase of the STAR system's opening, alongside 13 adjoining stations along the Sultan Ismail-Ampang route. The station reuses the now defunct Federated Malay States Railway and Malayan Railway (KTM) route between Kuala Lumpur, Ampang and Salak South. The Ampang Line part of the Maluri station was built as an elevated station along two tracks for trains traveling in opposite direction. Like other elevated Ampang Line stations, the station consists primarily of two above-ground levels, albeit lower. The ticket area, serving as a concourse area between street level and the platforms above is located on a raised level over a base. The platform level is on the uppermost portion of the structure, containing the train tracks and two side platforms sheltered by roofs. Both platforms converge at the ticket area via stairways and escalators, but no elevators are provided until 2015. The principal styling of the station is alike most other stations in the line, featuring multi-tiered roofs supported by latticed frames, and white plastered walls and pillars.

The station is currently the only elevated station along the Chan-Sow Lin-Ampang route, owing to fact that the original KTM tracks close to the station crossed Jalan Cheras as a level crossing. During construction of STAR over the old KTM route, it became necessary to run the STAR line over the road to prevent frequent traffic stoppages and eliminate the possibility of collisions between the trains and road vehicles (similarly, certain roadways crossing the original tracks were also converted into elevated flyovers over levelled tracks). Maluri station, which was built directly southwest from the crossing, was thus required to adapt to the track's height.

MRT station

The MRT station along Maluri was announced along with the rest of the Sungai Buloh–Kajang MRT line stations and started construction work around 2012. The station is due to be completed and opened along with the rest of the Phase 2 section of the line on 17 July 2017. The MRT station will be underground, along with the other 7 stations before it. The theme given for the design of the station is "New Generation", however, it won't be applied to the adjacent LRT station. However, there is paid zone-to-paid zone integration between the Ampang Line LRT and SBK MRT Line through a link bridge, which means that passengers wanting to switch lines to the other do not have to exit the paid area (exit the fare gates) to go to the other line, but directly access the other platform through a link bridge.

While it is possible to purchase tickets for the MRT line on the Ampang Line station concourse and vice versa, ticketing machines and Touch n Go reloading machines are also provided in the underground MRT station's concourse.

The MRT part of the station features four entrances (including the entrance to the Ampang Line station). There are two entrances, two on the southbound lane of Jalan Cheras and another two on the northbound lane. On the southbound lane, one entrance will be located right in front of the AEON shopping mall while the other is located adjacent to the entrance to the pedestrian bridge which links it to the Ampang Line station.
