Suspected sockpuppets


These accounts were created five days apart; the master was created first, but the sock edited first. Both are SPA on Eshal Fayyaz (which The Educationist Owl created, and most notably, Owl's sandbox compared with Ahmed's userpage, show the same personal information. It is extraordinarily unlikely that there are two "Pakistani university lecturers" with the same three degrees working on the same article who created their accounts at almost the same time. They're also playing a little bit of good hand, bad hand - Educationist Owl claims suddenly to be a photographer able to get personal backstage photos of the article subject while Ahmed recently claimed to have no relation to the subject. Ok so this is a complicated one. First note that Awais Azad is a confirmed sockpuppeteer. This user (foxdeltahawk22) just created DECODED Sexes. A matching page (DeCODED Sexes) was recently deleted. This matching page was created by Rtre4t654. This user (Rtre...) is a confirmed sockpuppet of Awais Azad. Thus it follows that Foxdelta is also a sockpuppet.

Tryeuwer1122

This one is also complicated. An image that was uploaded to commons by one of the many sockpuppets of Awais (commons:File:Vape Shoreditch.jpg) appears in an article Vape Shoreditch. This article has a sole editor: Tryeuwer1122. I'm fairly confident this is another sockpuppet.

  •  Clerk note: I see the two patterns and likely a third pattern, however [both/all] of these patterns are also evident in previously CU-confirmed OfficialPankajPatidar socks, and some of the accounts show more than one of the patterns. Strongly indicates a promo farm; at least one of the accounts disclosed to paid editing. Overall my opinion is that it's one user behind all of the accounts. However, JessikaRita and Melanie98765 are neither technical matches nor behavioural matches for any of the patterns. Banty Banty 123 is an undeclared shill like many of the socks used here. A bit of overlap ties this account to this farm.

Specific to this sock farm

Traedakidd is a creation of this sock farm [5]. Banty Banty 123 edited this page [6] and !voted to keep it at afd [7]. (And the IP removed the prod [8] and I believe a speedy from another now deleted page connected to this farm).
ChapoBanz was a creation of this sock farm User:Iamcb111/sandbox. Banty Banty 123 has created a new draft Draft:Chapo Banz.

General paid promotion

Hexaview Technologies was deleted 25 October 2016. Banty Banty 123 has created a new draft Draft:Hexaview Technologies.
Draft:Softjourn was rejected as reading more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia.

New baba created a burst of draft articles a few months ago, along with Ryan Hampton (political advocate), then went quiet. Last week and yesterday New editor 2017 uploaded and added new photos to the Ryan Hampton article: [10], which he says were emailed to him by the subject: [11], [12], etc. Also voted "keep" on AFD for Zigma8, an article created by a paid editor (now blocked): [13].

NovaGrace is a WP:SPA whose sole edits have been on Draft:Roderick Robertson, one of the drafts created by New baba, cleaning up and adding references, reverting a "submission declined" edit by another editor [14], and reverting the Commons Delinker bot [15].

Ziggiy's only edit so far was to create Draft:Blue Collar Hustle in a single edit 20 days ago, then edited yesterday by new account New editor 2017: [16]. Wikishovel (talk) 16:17, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sonywaga1 essentially reposted [21] the highly promotional Draft:E-Tabletop shortly after I deleted it the first time. 89 Buckeye "cleans up" Ready Pac Foods, created by Victor norad1. Victor norad1 and Donzack1 both showed up [22][23] on Draft:Anne Hagan, which was created by Jhonnybonzala1 (also note the similar usernames). I do not work for an ad agency. I am an out-of-work woman with a degree in journalism and not a lot of tech skills. So I thought it would be a good idea to try wikipedia to learn more tech skills. What a bad idea. I thought I wrote a very neutral article about a company that I like. Most of the products I like already had a wikipedia page so I had to search for a company that didn't have a page...Ready Pac Foods (they make yummy salad bowls). From the moment it was posted, I got trolled by editors who assumed I was up to no good. Now I have been investigated and my page was taken down. What a bad experience. I do not think I want to try any more. I spent so many hours researching the company and making sure I had a ton of sources. I also took feedback about making it "less promotional" so I tightened the story more. Don't you want companies to have a page on Wikipedia? Basically, this was a super sucky experience.   • Merging done. My conclusion to draw was: VN1 = SW1 = JB1 (notice the similar username pattern too). Now, remember Donzack1 (along similar lines). We have Harp0012 come in now, and a behaviour match signifies a definite connection to OfficialPankajPatidar (OPP, let's say). JB1 is a CU match for OPP. So, simply put, I'll put behavioral sock block tags on the Group 1 account. @DeltaQuad: I still have a problem with Buckeye 89, as although I can see their edits to Ready Pac Foods, I cannot compare them with any other sock's except VN1's one edit. --QEDK (愛) 18:07, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:BlackKitten123 made Draft:Frontlinesourcegroup.com; it was deleted and later recreated by Milloret, who came onto #wikipedia-en-help to enquire about the article and claims to be a low-level employee (presumably of the SEO company they're named for), while disclaiming any knowledge of BlackKitten's past. Milloret's edits, aside from three to her userspace and one to Template:Template sandbox, have been exclusively to the Frontline draft.   • Not above my pay grade, NeilN, but it's complicated and I'm not smart like Bbb, Ponyo, NativeForeigner. Two or three other SPIs are already linked here. Some of the drafts have unrelated accounts (that is, unrelated as far as CU goes) in them, which in turn have other accounts which are in fact linked. I have started to block for "undisclosed paid editing", but those are blocks that while prompted by this SPI shouldn't show up in it without further evidence. It seems...strange that a new editor would create not one but two sock articles. I'm guessing at this point the lack of technical similarities are due to it being a paid editing farm. Baba black uploaded several related images to commons: File:Arise from Darkness2.jpg which is used by MrTeamEditor and [[:File:Polo Boy Shawty.jpg |several]] which are for articles mass created by Chikna Chintu, who I've now added. In summary, Chikna created: Draft:Polo Boy Shawty (Singer) Baba uploaded File:Polo Boy Shawty.jpg and File:Polo Boy Shawty.png. Chikna created Draft:Kevin Derek (Film director), Baba uploaded File:Kevin Derek.jpg. Chikna created Draft:Untold News (Non-profit Organization), Baba uploaded File:Untold News.jpg.

We also now have MrTeamEditor who created Film Invasion L.A., Draft:Ave Fenix Pictures and Arise from darkness and 2/3 related back to Baba here and here Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 12:17, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

But wait....there is more!   • Chikna Chintu now also blocked & nuked. I don't know what the connection with Bob Marley 911 is supposed to be so I have taken no action.
  • Note to other admins: when dealing with suspected socks in this farm, please check for previously deleted drafts at the title without disambiguation. You will likely find a nearly identical article repeatedly recreated by other already-blocked socks. For example, Chikna Chintu created Draft:Untold News (Non-profit Organization) which was obviously a recreation of the deleted draft at Draft:Untold News.
Personally, it's clear this is a very large paid editing ring probably comprising many individuals. So long as they continue recreating drafts in this manner, it is my opinion that it's unproductive for us to fret over which of the many potential masters they might be, and so I propose that they all be dealt with as OPP. Suspected sockpuppets


A bunch of single purpose accounts writing promotion around Tres Watson.
Brilbluterin created a fully formed advert for Watson [28] over a redirect they'd created 2 days earlier.
Karuenmelan created a fully formed advert for The Gadget Guys [29] over a redirect they'd created a day earlier. The Gadget Guys was founded by Watson.
After the article was on Watson was redirected, reverted by Watson, then proded a new SPA Rogercosts appeared to remove the prod and make changes.

Could be related to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/OfficialPankajPatidar given a new SPA sock from there made many edits to Canvass for a Cause, another org founded by Watson. duffbeerforme (talk) 02:34, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Other behavioral ticks I notice from some of the accounts: Often one of their first few edits will include the creation of a talk page with Template:Tl.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36] (Most of these examples came from the large list atop the page.) Many/most of the Eggedbursa batch have taken to creating redirects from their User pages to their talk pages in their first few edits and in some cases waking up their talk pages too with Template:Tl.[37][38][39][40][41][42] This is almost certainly done to circumvent the redlinks, which I guess they think will trick experienced users.   • Template:Re I'm not sure what you're asking me. Which accounts aren't stale? Are the puppets at HemantDas34 related to the puppets here? You want to inject yet another layer of complexity in the game of which socks belong to which master? From a technical standpoint, there's often at least some connection. However, I don't usually say they are the same unless it's compelling technically and behaviorally. Although sometimes cross-editing is an indication of a behavioral connection, I find frequently it's not. I was meaning that the HemantDas34 socks aren't stale but not knowing entirely how CU works, I'm not sure whether or not you would have picked up a link to them automatically, or whether further checks could link them. The more classical spam combined with creating articles is fairly unusual IMO and both HemantDas34 and this group did it. There is other behavioural evidence linking HemantDas and OPP like creating talk pages with only two spaces: e.g. [43] [44]. My conclusion was that he was the client, hence the lack of mention when filing the initial SPI. He, unlike these socks, IMO is not a shill, he has been open and honest. The speed at which was aware of the Watson article and then editing it is matched by the same on the Gadget Guys article. Seems clear that he was informed that the job was done. Add to the self identifying you mention is self identifying by name elsewhere [45] [46]. I have a google alert, as well as some other Internet monitoring programs mostly for Press Mentions set to many things that interest me, and when the Internet mentions Tres Watson, Canvass for a Cause, or The Gadget Guys I get an email about it. When I see something written about me, I set it to a watchlist so as to ensure accuracy, believe it or not there are people out there that have a negative opinion and have vandalized on Wikipedia before with unsourced allegations of things that although untrue would be very embarrassing so I'm careful to keep close tabs on the accuracy of anything put out online, and quickly at that.Xyxyboy (talk) 13:52, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Made one edit in April 2016, then suddenly became active again within weeks of the blocking of a large group of Brilbluterin socks.
  • Overlap with known sock on AlliedCrowds (which was created by blocked sock Cardpock) where Boxer4215 proceeds to remove a PROD. (diff)
  • AlliedCrowds is closely related to Lars Kroijer, a page created by Boxer4215 in April 2016 (creation) and edited twice by them this month. (1, 2) Lars Kroijer is pretty blatantly promotional. Here, too, Boxer4215 proceeds to remove a PROD. (see '2') The page has, between creation and Boxer's resurfacing, been edited by two known-and-blocked Brilbluterin socks: User:Hrupolata (here, here) and User:Ducalburl21 (one diff among four).

Okay, this is getting very complicated. It looks like the feedback from some commenters here is on the money, because these accounts sure look like crossovers from OfficialPankajPatidar. They are editing Brilbluterin articles but are more technically related to OfficialPankajPatidar. Please note that Template:Checkuser is {[staleIP}} and so blocks should be based on behaviour; Template:Nc on the IP address except to say that it is not technically related to either of the sockmasters and is unlikely to be part of the editing ring.

The following are Template:Likely to be socks of Brilbluterin and are technically related to OfficialPankajPatidar as well.

Recreation of OfficialPankajPatidar spam.

Clearly a throw away account for a promotional sock farm. Other than token edits elsewhere has only edited about Roman Molino Dunn [52]. Dunn is known as Electropoint. Electropoint has been deleted three times this year [53] as a speedy G5, always Created by a banned or blocked user (User:OfficialPankajPatidar) in violation of ban or block.

  • Requesting CheckUser: The IP is too stale to block. As for the named account, it does look like username impersonation of SwisterTwister, and a block would be justifiable on that basis alone. In addition to the article recreation, the recent edits to Abro (TV serial) are also similar to edits made by a previous sock (adding links to the recreated page): compare [59] and [60]. Template:Pb What gives me slight pause, however, is that the command of English of SwisTwis feels weaker than that of previous sockpuppets of OfficialPankajPatidar (which was already weak to begin with). Compare the talk page statement by SwisTwis to previous socks: [61] and [62]. The talk page statement by SwisTwis is less composed than those of the previous sockpuppets and is riddled with spelling errors. Compare also the state of the Eshal Fayyaz article by SwisTwis and by previous socks. This recent iteration has much more broken English than earlier iterations: e.g. "Template:Tq" and "Template:Tq" and "Template:Tq". This recent iteration also lists the date of birth as October rather than September.Template:PbThe behavior of this new account feels subtly different, but on the other hand, the quality of English of past accounts wasn't that much better. Maybe I'm being too charitable. I'd be interested to see whether CheckUser can shed any light here that would help determine whether this account is related to past socks.
