*'''Oppose''' It's still not clear that "Ballarat Grammar" is the common name, even if we're closer than we were last time. The Australian school directory at http://www.australianschoolsdirectory.com.au/7516/ballarat-grammar-school-wendoureehttp://www.australianschoolsdirectory.com.au/ still lists it as "Ballarat Grammar School" and the School webpage still lists the full legal name of "BALLARAT AND QUEEN’S ANGLICAN GRAMMAR SCHOOL". What evidence is there that "Ballarat Grammar" is the commonly used name now? |

:I don't know what a "trading name" is, and I don't understand the comment about this article being about more than the one campus. This article seems to be about a school that has one main campus. Lower level students make some use of a farm, and upper level students spend a short time at a different location, but this does not sound to me like a multi-campus school. :: A [[trading name]] is "is a pseudonym used by companies to perform their business under a name that differs from the registered, legal name of the business". The name of the main campus according to the State Registry is "Ballarat Grammar School", but the organisation of the schools is more than just the name of their main campus. |

It is said in this article that Dart and WIGAN used to be one house. This is true, But they fail to bring up the fact that they were separate houses before amalgamation. This was due to boarding numbers declining in the mid to late 90's.
Rewrite needed?
As it stands, the article is heavy on notes about house rivalry and sporting achievements. Isn't there somebody familiar with the school who can rewrite it so that it gives a more complete picture? (I'm not sure that details of how often Butler-Krome won the swimming belong here.)
Notable alumni
I've added some of these, but I'm aware that they are all Old Boys, sorry. Can someone now add some women from Queen's and beyond? Lyn50 10:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
House Paring needs verification
If I remember correctly, Dart was not pared with Woodbridge. In fact, every Day House was pared with a Boarding house. Things may have changed since 1989 though...

- The house pairing is correct. Serac72 (talk) 15:55, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Protected
Right folks, let's stop tussling. I have protected it for three days. This should not be hard to reference. I will alert wikiproject Australia. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 01:15, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for flagging this for the folks at the Australia wikiproject - but let's be clear: this is unreferenced material. It is not a "content dispute" - it is vandalism by a single-purpose account. See Wikipedia:Verifiability: "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution."
- Hopefully the Australia Wikiproject will produce sources speedily. If not, that unreferenced material needs to go. Neutralitytalk 01:34, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
Requested move 26 January 2017

The result of the move request was: not moved. (non-admin closure) JudgeRM (talk to me) 00:09, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Ballarat Grammar School → Ballarat Grammar – The school would prefer the wiki page title and page uri to move from 'Ballarat Grammar School' to 'Ballarat Grammar'. The change is a decision from the Headmasters PA. Do not sign this. 49.194.160.38 (talk) 23:14, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose as less clear; this isn't a grammar. The subject of an article does not have control over its title and contents. Pppery 02:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose It's irrelevant what the school wants us to use. It's no tclear wha teh common name is. A "grammar" is an informal term for "grammar school" and even the school's webpage still uses "school" for its official name (Ballarat and Queen's Anglican Grammar School). The school's website is http://www.bgs.vic.edu.au/boarding/ Presumably the bgs is for "Ballarat Grammar School". Note also hat the Australian school directory at http://www.australianschoolsdirectory.com.au/ lists it as "Ballarat Grammar School". There's no problem creating a redirect from "Ballarat Grammar" but I think the main article should remain under this title. Meters (talk) 10:00, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose Per WP:OWN "No one, no matter how skilled, or how high standing in the community, has the right to act as though they are the owner of a particular page. Also, a person or an organisation that is the subject of an article does not own the article, and has no right to dictate what the article may say". Also oppose per WP:COMMONNAME AusLondonder (talk) 04:13, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

Requested move 13 July 2017
It has been proposed in this section that Ballarat Grammar School be renamed and moved to Ballarat Grammar. A bot will list this discussion on the requested moves current discussions subpage within an hour of this tag being placed. The discussion may be closed 7 days after being opened, if consensus has been reached (see the closing instructions). Please base arguments on article title policy, and keep discussion succinct and civil. Please use {{subst:requested move}} . Do not use {{requested move/dated}} directly. |
Ballarat Grammar School → Ballarat Grammar – This article should be moved from "Ballarat Grammar School" to "Ballarat Grammar". The Government Agency of the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority states the official trading name of this education provider as "Ballarat Grammar", and only states "Ballarat Grammar School" as the name of the main campus.[1] This is an article about more than just the main campus, and so must be moved to the proper trading name.

- Oppose. If anything the page should be renamed Ballarat And Queen's Anglican Grammar School, as per the school's registration with the Australian Business Register and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Cavalryman V31 (talk) 05:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
