Recently, a furore has erupted amongst locals over plans to develop the 'air rights' over the Camberwell railway station, covering over the heritage-listed station building. Geoffrey Rush (a user of the station) led the community in an attempt to stop the development. A decision as to the fate of the station has not yet been made public. Also, a recent release of plans to develop the old bank adjacent to Sofia's Pizza House into a seven floor high building has angered the local group [[BRAG]] (Boorondara Residents Action Group), who claim that increased traffic and the height of the development will affect the residents of the area, however with Melbourne's low population density, the developments can be seen as beneficial on the whole.
