Template:Korean nameOng Seong-wu (Hangul: 옹성우, born August 25, 1995) is a South Korean singer and actor. He is known for his participation in the survival reality show Produce 101 Season 2, where he finished in fifth place.[1][2] He is currently promoting as a member of the show's derivative boy group, Wanna One.[3]
Early life and education
Ong Seong-wu was born in Incheon, South Korea. He attended Guwol Middle School. He then attended Hanlim Multi Art School, majoring in practical dance and graduating in 2014. He has subsequently graduated from Dong Seoul University as a performing arts major.[4] As a member of his college faculty, he took part in various productions. He was also active as a member of the dance crew, 20th Century Boys, specialising in the dance genres of popping and locking.[5]
Career
2017–present: Acting Projects, Produce 101 and Wanna One
Seong-wu participated in Produce 101 Season 2 and garnered attention for his strong vocal and dance skills during the show's first evaluation, and subsequently in his performance Super Junior's "Sorry, Sorry". He continued to impress the audiences in his subsequent performances of Jason Derulo's "Get Ugly", and the original songs "Never", "Always" and "Hands on Me". In the finale, Seong-wu finished 5th with 984,756, securing him a spot as a member of Wanna One.
Additionally, Seong-wu also took part in a short film project, “Short Film Project: Beginning”, prior to his participation in Produce 101.[6] The short film, entitled, Seong-Woo is alright, was released on the June 19th.[7] Additionally, he also made a special appearance on the mobile drama, Idol Fever,[8] which aired from July 7th to 17th.
