Almpanis started his career at AO Meteora, the team of his native town. At the age of 16 he moved to Germany, joining Werder Bremen U17. After several years playing for Werder Bremen U19, Eintracht Frankfurt II, SC Freiburg II on 31 August 2015 Apollon Smyrni announced the signing of Almpanis on a two-year deal.
