A. Ernest Bertram[2] (20 January 1885 – after 1904) was an English footballer who played in the Football League as a left half for Sunderland in 1903–04. He also played non-league football for South Shields and Darlington.[1]
Bertram, described as "a Gateshead youth",[3] made his only first-team appearance for Sunderland on 5 March 1904, standing in for regular left-half Dicky Jackson in a 2–1 defeat away to Small Heath in the First Division.[2][4] He continued his career with Darlington, for whom he played in the Northern League and North-Eastern League as well as scoring twice from six FA Cup appearances in 1907–08 and 1908–09.[5]
