Josh Ritter has done a song called "Cry Softly" which he performed on the BBC Radio 4 programme Loose Ends. I am not sure whether it was ever released as a single, but if it was, it could go in the list of singles. Vorbee (talk) 17:54, 30 September 2017 (UTC) |

There should be a distinction that this is not the same Josh Ritter that created Minions of Mirth.--Mincetro 04:34, 10 March 2006 (UTC) V2 is not "a major label," by any means
Americana
Should this be under Americana or something or that sort? Tmcw 17:11, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay some may not see V2 as a major label but if you are from the UK or anywhere really, it may be worth noting, that V2 were the first label the stereophonics released on, with their albums Word gets around, and Performance and cocktails, but anything after that, i kind of lost interest in so they may also have been V2, if you are interested check it up.
V2 was/is a "indie" label created by virgin records to put out records without associating them with the major label. It has never existed outside of Virgin unless they were sold recently for some reason but I seriously doubt that given the state of the record industry. I don't mean this to belittle V2 in any way. Many great acts are published on that label (josh included).
Also "Long Shadows" was just featured under the ending credits of the show Bored to Death season 2 episode 3. Really great show but I don't know off hand how well viewed it is or if it's significant enough to make the main page. dividebyzero 70.116.147.203 (talk) 05:19, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Links
I've removed the link to the CCM review of Historical Conquests; that album has its own page, and if a link to that source really is appropriate--an idea I find questionable--it belongs on that page, and not on the Josh Ritter page. Mgriffin 00:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Ireland
Where to start... the whole bio reads like the self promotion his website writes... which makes it very questionable wiki material... particularly "On this little island situated on the European periphery and maintaining a longstanding musical tradition, Ritter quickly established himself as a Superstar."
First, little island is condescending. It is also a place in Co. Cork, so thats confusing. "Superstar" is a little bit far fetched, Ireland isn't into superstars and beyond Bono we don't have celebrities. Josh could walk down the main streets in Dublin and not be recognised. So what defines a superstar? The status of entering the charts at #2 with his album could do with a sales figure attached, because by most accounts that doesn't mean a whole lot. And Dublin Castle holds 10,000 people????? REFERENCES????? --JJ was here (talk) 18:35, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
New Record (2009)
In his latest blog (Sept. 8th), Josh mentions that he and his band have finished recording a new untitled record, which is in the process of being mixed. I think this should be put into the article. Here's the link:

References
There's background detail in this article about Ritter's life that is lacking in reliable sources to support it. If the material cannot be supported by references, it should be deleted. 79616gr (talk) 02:55, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
