Charana Daasi (English: Wife) is a 1956 Telugu drama film, produced by A. Sankar Reddy on Lalitha Films banner[2] and directed by Tatineni Prakash Rao.[3] Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi, Savitri in the lead roles[4] and music composed by Saluri Rajeswara Rao.[5] The film was simultaneously made in Tamil as Mathar Kula Manickam (1956).[6] The film is based on Rabindranath Tagore's Bengali novel The Wreck.[7][8]
