This 21 milliard years timeline of our universe shows the best scientific estimates of the occurrence of events since its beginning, up until uncontroversially anticipated events in the future. Zero of the scale is the present day. A large step on the scale is one milliard years, a small step one hundred million years. The past time have a minus sign, e.g. formation of the sun happenend five milliard years ago and this is marked at -5e+09 years. The theoretical "Big Bang" event happened approximate 13.7 milliard years ago with an error of 0.2 billion years (Bennett et al.; 2003, ApJS, 148, 1), see age of the Universe.
