Deleted external links
The editor who deleted external links at this article has made similar deletions at many other articles, including links to on-line text of many Early Christian writers. Discussion of this behavior, which would have been routinely reverted as vandalism if it were from an anonymous IP, may be found at Talk:Papias. --Wetman 18:53, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have reinstated the link to Schaff-Herzog, should anyone ever want to mention the actual writings of the historical Macarius, to add to the thin pabulum of the current article. The story of Macarius' parents being Abraham and Sarah, etc etc, needs to be sourced: it's too transparently fictional simply to report as history. --Wetman 10:26, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Ordained twice?
Macarius' ordination to the priesthood is mentioned twice, once by the bishop at the request of the people of his village, and again, ten years later when he is a hermit in the desert. Please clarify this. Caeruleancentaur (talk) 12:41, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
expert help please
On the page Theoria#St Macarius of Egypt it is written that St. Maracius believed that theoria is the same as agape, but not very clearly. Therefore I was wondering if anybody who knows about his use of theoria and agape, which are traditionally distinct subjective experiences, might edit that page. makeswell (talk) 20:01, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Major clarifications and verifications are needed. The article states without citation that he was born in 300, when the Orthodox website says that he was born in 331. Umma Kynes 21:26, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Questions about Dates
Why are there no dates on any important events that impacted Macarius of Egypt's life?
