Denílson Pereira Neves, known as Denílson (born on February 16, 1988 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian footballer who usually plays as a defensive midfielder. He is currently the captain of the Brazilian national side at Under-19 level.
He started his career at São Paulo. On August 31 2006 he joined English club Arsenal for a fee of £3.4 million (US$6.5 million).[1][1]. He has been seen has the long term replacement of fellow Brazilian Gilberto Silva who wished to return to Brazil to end his career once his contract with Arsenal has ended[citation needed].
