If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! — Bill william comptonTalk 04:07, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Kent Tate
A tag has been placed on Kent Tate requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Bill william comptonTalk 04:07, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
The article Kent Tate has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 04:19, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Sandboxes and tildes
You left a message at User talk:Huon/Test. For the record, my talk page is at User talk:Huon; that page is the talk page of my (individually named) sandbox.
On the issue: While Google should not index sandboxes, which are indeed places for work in progress, we ultimately cannot control Google; besides, there are mirrors which copy Wikipedia's content, but not the "don't index" commands; Google often finds not the real sandbox, but a mirror which offers the same content but isn't hosted by Wikipedia. Sandboxes, like all Wikipedia pages, are viewable by the public; if you want your work in progress to remain invisible, you'd have to work offline without saving it to Wikipedia, but I don't think that's worth the effort.
I can't tell you how to type a tilde; that would obviously depend on your keyoard and/or keyboard driver and may vary with national settings. With the standard US keyboard layout you'll find the tilde at the top left. If you're stuck with a keyboard that doesn't have a tilde, you may sign via the edit toolbar. - Some advice on general editing and on the Kent Tate article:
- Links to other Wikipedia articles are created by double square brackets. [[Toronto]] will give this: Toronto. If you want to have the displayed text differ from the title of the linked article, you can use a "piped" link: [[Canadians|Canadian]] will look like this: Canadian. It still links to the "Canadians" article. See Help:Link for more details on links.
- The "Early life" and "career" sections don't cite any sources, making their content hard to verify. You should use footnotes to clarify which source supports which of the article's statements.
- The Manual of Style is rather critical of the use of boldface with very few exceptions such as the first occurrence of the article title in the first line.
- Usually Wikipedia articles should not have external links in the article proper. Either the pages linked to are fit to be used as references, and then they should be put in a footnote, or they aren't, and then we should omit the link altogether. For example, none of the external links for the Albuquerque 2012 exhibition so much as mention Tate, making them irrelevant to that article.
- Wikipedia content should be based on reliable, independent sources such as newspapers or reputable art magazines. Gallery websites are not independent sources on exhibitions hosted at that gallery. Interviews are not independent sources on the interviewed person.
- The article should be placed in relevant categories.
- I've fixed some of those issues, but others remain - especially the lack of footnotes for much of the article and the external links that need some cleanup. Huon (talk) 02:01, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
I have inserted references in the sections that you mentioned. I hope I have resolved all of the issues that were pointed out with this article. In the link for the ISEA 2012 it refers to all the works from the Currents 2012 where in the screening, including the experimental documentary (Tate). Would that make it irrelevant? I am really unsure about adding categories so that may take me a little more time. Thank you for the help. Cheri Brown (talk) 04:11, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
