Air Marshal Balakrishnan Suresh,AVSM, VM is Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel (AOP)[2] at Air Headquarters of the Indian Air Force.

Early life and education

Balakrishnan Suresh[3]was born in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. His father T Balakrishnan Unni who was a financial secretary served to the Kerala government. His mother Parvathy was a college lecturer. He is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun and was graduated from National Defence Academy, Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), the Defence Services Staff College Wellington, and a post-graduate from Cranfield University, Shrivenham, United Kingdom.

Career

Balakrishnan Suresh took over as Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel (AOP)[2][4][5] on 31-July 2016 at headquarter, Vayu Sena Bhavan. He joined Indian Air Force as a Flying officer in 1980. During his career, he could successfully handle many military aircrafts including helicopters and fighter planes like Sukhoi Su-30MKI. This experience helped him to command No. 2 Squadron IAF, The winged arrows. Which is a unit dedicated to Close Air Support | CAS in the Indian Air Force.
