Moana Nui A Kiwa Hinemoa Manley (1935 in Ngapuna[1] – 15 November 2017[2]) was a Maori New Zealand competitive swimmer and beauty pageant winner.
Manley represented her country as a swimmer at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. Also in 1954, she won the pageant titles of Miss Swimming and Miss Auckland, and subsequently won the inaugural competition for Miss Universe New Zealand.[1] She went on to represent New Zealand at the Miss Universe 1954 competition, where she fainted while posing under the hot sun.[3]
Manley married Maui Whaanga; they had 4 children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She died in 2017, aged 82, following a stroke.[2]
