The film is based on two couples – where the first couple Dr. Chandra Shekar (N. T. Rama Rao) & Parvathi (Anjali Devi) and the second couple is Venu (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) & Lakshmi (Savitri). Venu & Lakshmi are happy lovers. Venu is summoned and asked to marry another girl forcibly. Since his father's life & honor are at stake, Venu agrees to the marriage. Simultaneously another marriage takes place in the same village Dr. Chandra Shekar visits his best friend's sister marriage but the marriage stops due to dowry problems to keep up his friend's prestige Shekar marriages his sister called Parvathi. Due to sudden marriage, the couple doesn't see each other. Thereby because marriage is happening without his wish Venu also not seen the bride's face. Both the |

Charana Daasi (English: Wife) is a 1956 Telugu drama film, produced by A. Sankar Reddy on Lalitha Films banner[2] and directed by Tatineni Prakash Rao.[3] Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi, Savitri in the lead roles[4] and music composed by Saluri Rajeswara Rao.[5] The film is based on Rabindranath Tagore's Bengali novel The Wreck.[6][7] The film was simultaneously made in Tamil as Mathar Kula Manickam (1956).[8] Later in Hindi as Ghunghat (1960) and again remade in Hindi as Paraya Ghar (1989)
