Legion of Merit - verification
I removed reference to two Legion of Merit awards. Not found in official USMC bio, nor seen on photo. If verification found, please restore reference. —ERcheck @ 16:00, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- I found references on sites promoting his book, but not on military sites. All photos that I have seen with him wearing all of his decorations do not include a Legion of Merit medal. —ERcheck @ 16:08, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I wanted to add a bit of a personal note in that I served with Colonel Fox when he was my Battalion C.O at Quantico in the late 80s maybe mid/late 90 before I left for the Gulf War and I have to say he is one of the finest leaders I have ever met. His mere presence instills confidence. Everytime I saw him I thought he was just about as much of a Marine's Marine as you can get. I have the highest level of respect for Colonel Fox. I have also had the pleasure and honor of meeting his family and they are just the most down to earth wonderful people you could meet. Colonel Fox is an american hero of the highest order, not only because of his actions in combat but his dedication to honor, to this country and the Marine Corps that we love. I actually think of Colonel Fox often and even some 16 years later, his lessons and his example are with me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.138.10 (talk • contribs) 21:42, 17 June 2006
Missing several service ribbons
The bottom paragraph which lists the Colonel's awards is missing several service ribbons. Colonel Fox was also awarded the Arctic Service Ribbon and I think also the Drill Instructor Ribbon as well as several awards of the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and possibly also the Overseas Service Ribbon. When I have time, I will post an entire list from his military file (he released a list of his awards to me several years ago when I was conducting a research project). -OberRanks (talk) 10:58, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Recent edit
I streamlined the infobox by removing lower awards; generally, only the highest award per conflict is included, as the inforbox is the summary of the article. I also removed the colonel insignia, as these are generally not included.
Here's the diff: link. Please let me know if there are any concerns. K.e.coffman (talk) 04:25, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

Sir or Madam,
I just tried to post some updates, but found this site was protected.
COL (then Captain) Fox was my reporting senior when I served as Commander of the Guard for 3rd Recon at Camp Onna Point, Okinawa, where he was serving as both S-2 and S-3 officer in the mid 1970s.
I learned this morning from LTCOL Victor Taylor (who had earlier been my commanding officer in C. Co. 3rd Recon)that Colonel Fox had sadly passed away on 25 Nov. 2017.
I also wanted to add two of his other books to the list,"Courage and Fear: A Primer" and "Six Essential Elements of Leadership" and two other external links regarding COL Fox:

https://sites.google.com/site/usmccaposcar/bulletin-board
Please effect the above changes at your earliest conveniences. I don't have any other details as yet, but will send them ASAP.
I remain,
Semper Fidelis,
F. J. Taylor USMC (Ret.)
PS: Please inform me when the updates have been made. Seamus45 (talk) 22:44, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Seamus45: Not done You, like many others, assert that the subject is dead but there has not yet been a newspaper article or other reliable source to prove it. Wikipedia requires verifiability. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:53, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
