RUMAG (which is short for Rude Magazine) is a Dutch media company and apparel brand based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.[1]

History

The company was founded in October 2014 by Thijs van der Heide and Tim Degenaars and started out as a blog but later their regular blog posts were substituted with quotes and also shared on Facebook.[2][3] RUMAG produces quotes and slogans that are humorous, sexually tinted, and rude.[4] These quotes are featured on their own line of Tshirts and on popular TV shows and in magazines.

In October 2015, Former nightclub owner Danny Membre and his partner sold their nightclub after which Membre joined RUMAG as partner and becoming part owner of the company.[5][6]

In June 2016, RUMAG became a publisher with the VICE Digital Network and launched their own media platform.[7][8] On December 1st 2016, dutch vlogger and comedian Nienke Plas joined the company to spear head their media platform and become the new face of the company.[9][10][11] In October 2017, Tim Degenaars left the company and sold his stake in the company to focus on his other business ventures.

On September 4th 2017, RUMAG entered into an agreement with dutch Prime-time Late-night Talk show RTL Late Night, whereby the show will close-off daily with a quote from RUMAG.
