:::::: Well, I guess I didn't think that a request to move the article for the "old" GFW from a title with the years in it to one without the years in it would be contested. I mean, since the article for the "new" GFW got re-titled back to Impact Wrestling, I figured the article for the "old" one no longer needed the years in the title. And, I didn't know that, apparently, being the move requester, I had to start the discussion. This user subpage is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. If you want to revive discussion regarding the subject, you might try contacting the user in question or seeking broader input via a forum such as the village pump. The Mediation Committee has been disbanded as a result of this discussion. Other dispute resolution processes should be used for content issues. |
The Mediation Committee was a panel of editors who resolved content disputes on Wikipedia articles by providing formal mediation. The Mediation Committee was established with the Arbitration Committee in 2003 by Jimmy Wales and was the last stage of content dispute resolution on the English Wikipedia. Mediation was entered into voluntarily by the parties to the dispute and did not result in binding resolutions. The Mediation Committee policy documented how the Mediation Committee, its mediators, and the formal mediation process operated. This policy was maintained by the Committee and was considered an authoritative codification of how Committee matters should be conducted.
After a substantial period of inactivity, the Mediation Committee was shut down by community consensus on 12 November 2018.

In this edit you inserted a sentence saying that the poem's meter is iambic hexameter "as often used for Latin and Ancient Greek poetry" (even though the meter of classical epics was dactylic hexameter). On the other hand, the poem is given as an example in our article on dactylic hexameter. Iambic or dactylic? I know nothing about Lithuanian poetry, but there seems to be a conflict here. Deor (talk) 15:20, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Controversial moves
Hi, Anthony. Could you please help revert my category moves? Just the category ones (from "Category:Czech electronic music groups" to "Category talk:Russian techno"). These moves I made were deemed controversial and need to be undone. - TheMagnificentist 14:27, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Mass disruptions
Have you ever noticed that by your unthoughtful moves of "pro-democracy camp" and "pro-Beijing camp" you delinked and disrupted hundreds of articles that link to the Hong Kong's pro-democracy camp and pro-Beijing camp? Additionally, your choices for "pro-xxxx camp in Hong Kong" instead of "pro-xxx camp (Hong Kong)" are very questionable, as it is not the common practice for naming an article here on wikipedia. Lmmnhn (talk) 01:53, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Lmmnhn: These moves were asked for in this edit of Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. The reasons stated there for the moves look sensible to me. The pages Special:WhatLinksHere/Pro-democracy camp in Hong Kong and Special:WhatLinksHere/Pro-Beijing camp (Hong Kong) show that the incoming links still exist and that there are no double links (i.e. #redirect links to other #redirect links) among them. See the history of page Pro-democracy camp in Hong Kong; after you moved it, User:In ictu oculi moved it again. See the answers to your move discussion at Talk:Pro-democracy camp in Hong Kong#Requested move 4 July 2017. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 03:53, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- The links were fixed because I did it. Before my edits all the articles linked to "pro-democracy camp" were linked to the disambiguation page. No offence but I do not oppose to the intention of whoever wanted to make it more specific or clearer but to delink hundred of articles by moving a page is just a unthoughtful move. An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Toby fox (artist). Since you had some involvement with the Toby fox (artist) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. UnitedStatesian (talk) 14:08, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Anthony. You placed an indefinite semi-protection on this article just over four years ago. An interested anon IP editor, 208.95.51.38, has now requested a lifting of this protection at the article Talk page. I have said that I "agree in principle." What do you think? Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:02, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- {@Martinevans123 and 208.95.51.38: That depends on what 208.95.51.38 wants to do with the page. As stated in Talk:Common Sense (pamphlet)#Semi-protected edit request on 5 July 2017, there is nothing stopping User:208.95.51.38 from registering as a Wikipedia user and getting himself a username. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:52, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- I'll try and relay that sentiment to the IP (again). But I don't intend to be middle man indefinitely. Four years and 2 months is quite a while? Martinevans123 (talk) 20:03, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- I didn't plan to do anything there. I just wondered if you could unprotect it as a test, to see if vandalism (or anything else bad) started up again. 208.95.51.38 (talk) 20:56, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

I've heard you are the merge expert. Wikimedia has received a couple of requests through OTRS (ticket:2017062110025561) regarding Cision and Cision Inc.. I promise to look into seeing if I could move this along. Is this something you can help with?--S Philbrick(Talk) 16:38, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick: Cision and Cision Inc. cannot be history-merged with each other because they are WP:Parallel histories. There may have been amounts of copying back and forth between these two pages and company literature including by members of the companies. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 23:41, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

If you're interested, I set up a move request at Talk:Pretty Hurts#Requested move 24 July 2017 that I encourage you to participate in. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:E559:381A:F74C:F65B (talk) 22:29, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
Why did you agree to restore the old history to the page? The IP is a disruptive user, Alexsautographs, who stopped editing under their own username about a year ago. The article was deleted in 2014 because the subject didn't pass GNG. I created it in 2017, when the subject did pass GNG. The old article history has no bearing on the current article. I don't believe it should have been restored, as the deletion was appropriate. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:15, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

- Thanks. FYI I've opened an SPI on this user as I've discovered multiple accounts. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:26, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Muboshgu: He tried the same with page Michael Brady (baseball). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:37, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- He did it at Nick_Additon, although there it appears the "new" article was the same as the old. I'm trying to clean up the messes created by this user, creating lots of articles on nonnotable individuals and trying to claim "credit" whenever a nonnotable individual became notable after the fact. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:39, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
Please undo move of Prince album
Greetings Anthony! Your move of Sign o' the Times to Sign o' the Times (album) popped up on my watchlist and I noticed that it had been requested by an IP user at WP:RM/TR. The IP proceeded to retarget Sign o' the Times to Sign of the Times.[3] I would kindly ask you to revert those moves, because a discussion should be held first, to find out whether the album is primary topic. The situation regarding article titles of this Prince album and its headline song has been stable for many years; it shouldn't be moved without prior debate. Thanks, — JFG talk 14:35, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
Initials in name
Hi.
In India, it is a common convention to exclude spaces in initials. ie, it should be H.M. Jyothi rather than H. M. Jyothi. Just wanted to let you know. :)

Mariana Trench Marine National Monument
I can't get that worked up about this, but I think the recent page move from Marianas Trench Marine National Monument to Mariana Trench Marine National Monument is in error. As the article notes, "The actual text of the proclamation establishing it gives it the official name Marianas Trench Marine National Monument." That proclamation is Presidential Proclamation no. 8335, Establishment of the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument (Jan. 6, 2009). The operative statement giving it its official name is on page 2: "NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by section 2 of the Antiquities Act do proclaim that there are hereby set apart and reserved as the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument..." Double moves
I see that you moved the redirect at Wiking Mineral to Svenska Bergsbruk. This causes the redirect created from an earlier page move to be shown under the target's history instead. You also have a double move of Lou Brock, Jr. to Lou Brock Jr. (originally done by Alex Shih). Also, Alex Shih did a double move originally done by you from Branch Rickey, Jr. to Branch Rickey Jr.. One solution is to undelete the revisions deleted by the double move under the circular redirect, but another solution is to move the circular redirect back and then undelete the accidentally deleted revisions. Below are the log entries for the 2 solutions, as well as the edit for solution 1.
Solution 1

Solution 2

A move of the redirect at A to the same target B it points to as the result of an earlier move could also have followed "moved page B to C without leaving a redirect" (as you have done with Template:Pull quote/boilerplate redirecting to Template:Cquote/boilerplate originally by Herostratus, for example) instead of "deleted page B", but this is unlikely. GeoffreyT2000 (talk, contribs) 18:25, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
- @GeoffreyT2000: In both cases, examining the talk page will show two moves from A to B by different admins in consecutive minutes. In both cases, it may be most useful to put a history note in its talk page saying that unintentionally two admins obeyed the same move request at the same time; and a move instruction takes time to be obeyed as signals travel across the world and servers work through queues. Coincidences happen sometimes. Sorry. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:32, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Histmerge and drafts
Hello Anthony. I'm asking about what should be done in the case of an article that was created in mainspace when there exists a Draft article that has "precedence" – the specific case I am considering here is Pyewacket (film), and Draft:Pyewacket (film), the latter of which was created long before the new article, and which in my opinion should be merged/histmerged into the mainspace article. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer on this. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:02, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- @IJBall: I have text-merged Pyewacket (film) (which had only 1 edit) into Draft:Pyewacket (film), and then moved Draft:Pyewacket (film) to Pyewacket (film). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:11, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, much! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:12, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
And a new one for you...
Anthony, I have a new, but related one, for you. I asked for a WP:REFUND on the original but subsequently deleted article Chloe East – it now resides at User:IJBall/sandbox7. From the looks of it, the original but subsequently deleted article is in every way superior to what now exists at Draft:Chloe East. So, I'm suggesting that User:IJBall/sandbox7 be HISTMERGE'd into Draft:Chloe East. This one's a little more difficult than the last one, though, as there is more of a revision history at Draft:Chloe East. So, I'd appreciate it if you'd perform some "histmerge magic" here, or offer some advice on how to proceed... Thanks in advance! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 14:04, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
- @IJBall: The edits at Draft:Chloe East are mostly from 04:08 4 August 2017 to 14:07 4 August 2017, with an intruding bot edit at 18:55 4 August 2017, and a deletion-tagging at 08:34 17 January 2017 edit-noted "all done with this now: content merged to Draft:Devyn Nekoda". These edits are all in time between these 2 consecutive edits of User:IJBall/sandbox7; but these 2 pages are clearly not part of the same edit sequence. As regards which article of User:IJBall/sandbox7 and Draft:Chloe East is "better" :: sorry; I live in England, and I know little about the USA acting scene; it may be better to text-merge these two pages. (Note also that User:IJBall/sandbox7 is sitting over a deleted edit history dated from 01:37 14 May 2016 to 23:05 25 May 2016 which is a list of animation studios.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:58, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, good point – I've used that Sandbox before for other things... OK, I'll probably try text-merging them then, but I'll be sure to include an attribution to the original Chloe East (now deleted) article in the edit summary, though effectively it will mostly be a "replacement" of the current text at Draft:Chloe East with the original text. That will probably have to suffice... Thanks! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:04, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
A Generous Thank You for Your Assistance
Hi and Good Evening Anthony!
I am writing this message to say that, I thank you so very much for assisting me with attempting to update the Mohegan Lake, New York Article! However, I have a question to ask you (if you don't mind me asking). Since the change for the Title of the Article has been completed (and that I've attempted to do a web search for the City name through my Internet Browser to test). How come when I search on Google the Title of the Article still shows up as "Lake Mohegan" and the same with the Article's URL? Is this something separate that I would have to ask Google legally that I would want to change the Title from Lake Mohegan, New York to Mohegan Lake, New York? Below I will insert the links to both of these, so that you would better understand for what I am explaining.
NOTE // The Title that shows up as "Lake Mohegan" is in the first column box on the right side of the Webpage, just beneath the pictures that depict of a Barnes & Noble Store and Mohegan Lake's Geographic Picture from the Map (Google Maps). The URL that shows up as Lake_Mohegan,_New_York is in green and that it is associated with Wikipedia (the Wikipedia URL).
You can respond back to this (if you would like) for when you have the opportunity.
Have a lovely rest of the Evening, Love.
Sarah Sarah.t.life 03:17, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Sarah.t.life: Google needs time to search through the world's internet pages and notice the change. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:54, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: Ohh! Alright then. So, this is something separate that I wouldn't have to do a manual legal change with Google? Google would need some time to look into it and make the change permanent? However, to get to the point, I wouldn't have to do anything, just wait until Google notices that it's no longer Lake Mohegan but, Mohegan Lake?
- @Sarah.t.life: Internet searchers run programs called spiders or web crawlers that continually search around the world's websites. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 12:35, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: Why yes, I have researched and understood for what both those terms meant. However though, for my concern. Would I just have to wait (not do anything) until the Web Crawlers come upon it?
You can respond back to this for when you get the chance.

- @Sarah.t.life: I have had the same problem. A user thankfully let me use be some website space, but Google is taking an age and an age finding that that new named web area and its contents exists. - @Anthony Appleyard: Ohh! alright then. I understand what you would mean by the old Data and Internet Transfer Nodes' Buffers. So I guess I might as well just have to wait until the change takes it's course.

I see that you moved this article name, but it refers to a genre as well as a destination for musicals and plays. The move was disputed on the Talk page, so I don't think it should have been moved, especially without notifying editors on the Talk page that such a move was requested. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:48, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. Happy editing! -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:34, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- The move discussion at Talk:Off-Broadway was withdrawn by the requester. Would you kindly take a look and close it if you agree that is appropriate? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:04, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Ssilvers: That query seems to raise either or both of two Wikipedia-rule-application queries:
- "Is it valid for User:oknazevad to withdraw his own move request?": It looks possible, but I better leave that for higher authorities within Wikipedia to decide on finally.
- "Is the page move correct, deciding from the nature of USA theaters?": Sorry; I am in England and I have never been to America, and I know little about USA theater; I very rarely have been to live-acting theaters. The British newspapers cover largely London theatre.

Hello Anthony Appleyard; This should not have happened imo. Was this even discussed? There is nothing on the talk page of the article. We don't tend to spell names in that way. --HistoryofIran (talk) 19:40, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- @HistoryofIran and Colonies Chris: In Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests User:Colonies Chris asked for this move at 10:26, 26 August 2017 (UTC). But many atlases of the Middle East including the Times World Atlas put macrons on vowels in transcribed placenames. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:58, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- We still don't usually use macrons though, the article was moved without any form for discussion - that's not really fair, now is it? --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:59, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- @HistoryofIran: I have moved it back. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:02, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- On the contrary, the macron is widely used in Iranian articles. Many similar articles use the macron. See {{Military of the Sasanian Empire sidebar}} for example. Even the ones that don't have the macron in the title do use it in the template and in the lede (see Navbed, for example). I'm just trying to bring a bit of consistency .Colonies Chris (talk) 22:26, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

14:24, 28 August 2017 Anthony Appleyard (talk | contribs) deleted page Draft:Bitquence (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)
Hi Anthony,
I am new to Wikipedia and I didn't understand how the draft process works and published to early. My first article you deleted for Unabiguous advertising or promotion. I tried to write if from my own point of view and be " objective and unbiased style, free of puffery". Not sure which part is violating this but I do know it was not ready to go live and I would like to make changes to the original.
Do you have any tips on what specifically I could do to make it acceptable? I was basically copying following the style of very similar pages on similar interests as my guide.
How do I view the draft now it has been deleted?
--Jesse003 (talk) 20:54, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Jesse003: See WP:SPAM. One advertisory feature about the article is the many uses of the pronoun "you". To keep your article away from people who may want to delete it, it may be better to keep a copy of it on your computer at home. I have undeleted page Draft:Bitquence. For format and style compare the other members of Category:Alternative currencies and its subcategories. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:56, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
The article Cajun Navy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The title Cajun Navy is unlikely to have a long lifetime outside of newspaper headlines, and will therefore not be a good encyclopedia entry.
An alternate strategy would be a redirect or disambiguation page to point to Katrina or Harvey. Move the content there.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rhadow (talk) 13:44, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
- FYI - I've declined the prod as such, given that some of the references go back a decade or more. Besides, as a redirect where would it go? Good cases could be made for Rita, Katrina, and Harvey - as well as other uses and incidents. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 13:54, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

It was undoubtedly correct to turn Other from a soft link to Wiktionary into a DAB page. However, you may have overlooked WP:FIXDABLINKS. User:DPL bot reports that the move broke 332 links. Yrs, Narky Blert (talk) 10:21, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Narky Blert: I have reverted the move. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:49, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Narky Blert: Many of these links to "other" seem to be to a recently developed habit of using the word "other" as a verb ("to make into an other", "to treat as different or separate; segregate; ostracise", "to label as "other"". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:27, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind betting that a good proportion of the links shouldn't exist at all. (My favourite, which I've seen a couple of times, is linked in this sentence.) Hi. In this discussion, you pinged Jakeroberts, an account with no edits. Judging by the edit history of the corresponding page, did you mean Jakeroberts27? Iambic trimeter
The paragraph on substitution is still confused, even after your amendment. Earlier in the article substitution is defined as follows: "Substitutions were common, especially in the first two metra of the line, so that any long or anceps syllable except the last could be replaced by two short syllables". Now you are defining substitution differently, as "substitution (here, replacing the first syllable of a foot by two shorts)" (where is "here"?). The distinction between resolution and substitution (if there is one) needs to be made clearer in both places in the article. Perhaps you could say "Substitution of two shorts for a long syllable in the anceps position of a metron is rare in tragedy and mainly used for accommodating a proper name, but in the second and fourth elements of the metron it is more common." (A reference to a standard textbook such as Maas or Raven or West for a technical statement such as this is desirable, however.) Kanjuzi (talk) 10:24, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
Possible historymerge or other solution to give correct attribution.
- I'd be grateful of advice here. There is an article Yi Ding (psychologist) that was started in March this year. At the same time there was an abandoned but not yet deleted draft Draft:Yi Ding. The mainspace article seems to be fairly heavily based on the draft, see User talk:Masterknighted#Yi Ding (psychologist) and also Earwig's copyright comparison says 80% match. If it was copied or relied heavily on then it doesn't credit the people who edited the draft and the originator of the draft is quite upset that there work appears to have been plagiarised or copytheft has occurred (a subsidiary issue is that the draft was decline twice at AFC and then there is a mainspace article with no issues but basically the same content). I'm wondering does it need a historymerge to provide some attribution or as the draft has now been deleted whether some minor/dummy edit and attribute via the edit summary will suffice? Nthep (talk) 20:00, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Nthep: I have history-merged Draft:Yi Ding to Yi Ding (psychologist): see this diff. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:33, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Now to explain it all. Nthep (talk) 08:18, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
Red hat move
Hi Anthony, I understand why you were reluctant to merge the histories but I was not quite clear what you were asking from each editor here Talk:Operation Red Hat/Archives/2017/September#Query about restoration of deleted edits? I would like to show the Edit history of the page at least from creation and possibly to to deletion as well as any changes since AfD. This diff from DRV shows each version with the majority of text and references that were deleted from both pages. Some citations in those edits were repaired but they look broken in that diff. Is the list of deleted references what you were asking for? If so I'll post a reply there. If not, could you explain a bit more what you require from me? Deleted edit
If you have the time, could you take a look at this and advise?
I created a redirect at Publius Silius which was deleted by an admin without a PROD or RFD and without meeting any CSD. I thought this was wrong and so I raised it on his/her talk page here. When that discussion went cold, I made a request for undeletion here (still open, I guess). That prompted the deleting admin to create a new article on the figure he thought should be covered at that title (the current article). I still think the deleted revision should be restored to the article history since it was not a justifiable deletion. Am I being crazy? In any case, I am not asking that the present article be deleted or changed into a redirect. The question of title and primacy can be settled later, if anybody cares enough. Reduce page protection for South Park (season 21)
Hi Anthony. It's clear there's a consensus to create a season 21 article for South Park. I see you've now restored South Park (season 21). Could you reduce the page protection so it can be updated? That would affect my vote in the move discussion. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 16:10, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Anthony. There is still a move discussion open at Talk:South Park season 21. Do you want to close that one as well? Possibly that talk page ought to be text-merged into Talk:South Park (season 21). Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 18:13, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- @EdJohnston: The two discussions (both already closed) in Talk:South Park season 21 are about moving page South Park season 21, and should stay with page South Park season 21, which started as a recent cut-and-paste fork of page South Park (season 21). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:50, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
- I would suggest text-merging Talk:South Park season 21 with Talk:South Park (season 21) to keep everything together. Then one could become a redirect to the other. EdJohnston (talk) 23:38, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

I still believe that the article on the color has primacy and should be the landing place for someone typing "blood red" into the Wikipedia search box (rather than a disambig page), but what can't be done can't be done, eh? KDS4444 (talk) 07:44, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- @KDS4444: I have changed the film link in Template:Peter Masterson. That may trim down the incoming links to page Blood Red, when the change has worked its way through Wikipedia's buffers, which tends to take an age and an age. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:19, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Why did you leave out the first revision (a redirect by me) in this article? This isn't the first time too as you did the same for K-391 before it was deleted and several other articles. Do you think redirects have no value or are unworthy to be attributed? — Zawl 13:51, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Clearing house (finance)
Hi Anthony, thank you for your help moving this page. I think the move I proposed has lost the history for two articles, Cheque clearing and Clearing house (finance) because the the original Cheque clearing article was copied and pasted into Clearing house (finance), which was deleted and recreated as a result of the move I proposed. Before going any further, I wanted to discuss what the best way to proceed is. I wonder if it is better to undo the move (if possible) and then copy the text from Clearing house (finance) back to Cheque clearing. There is then some text on central counterparty clearing that needs moving back to Clearing house (finance). Baltimore Blast Histmerge
Can you explain why you declined the histmerge? It appeared to me to be a straightforward case of a copy-paste move, with the Draft page coming first. Was there something else I missed? Hamtechperson 22:49, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Hamtechperson: Draft:2016–17 Baltimore Blast season has edits from 17:41, 21 February 2017 to 12:45, 24 April 2017 with page size running at a little over 12,900 bytes. 2016–17 Baltimore Blast season has edits from 14:05, 23 February 2017 continuously to 15:48, 1 November 2017, and its running page length when the draft page was active is about 14,500. The oldest edit of 2016–17 Baltimore Blast season (14:05, 23 February 2017) is identical with, and was likely copied from, the oldest edit of Draft:2016–17 Baltimore Blast season (17:41, 21 February 2017), but after that the two pages were edited independently of each other as WP:Parallel histories, until at 12:45, 24 April 2017 User:TriiipleThreat noticed in Draft:2016–17 Baltimore Blast season that there was already a main-space article at 2016–17 Baltimore Blast season about the same subject. Request to revert undiscussed move
Hello, Anthony. Louie (TV series) was moved today by an editor without opening a move discussion, when the last discussion about the same move closed with no consensus. I placed that in the "Requests to revert undiscussed moves" section of WP:RM, but it has been removed by another editor (who apparently supports the move). I'm wondering if you could take a look. I believe my request to revert is appropriate. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 19:24, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Wikipedical: Currently Louie (U.S. TV series) is about a USA TV series and Talk:Louie (U.S. TV series) contains an active move discussion; and Louie is a long disambig page. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:28, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Currently that's right. But the move today from TV series to U.S. TV series had been discussed and never found a consensus. That move is the one that should be discussed, and the status quo reverted. No? -- Wikipedical (talk) 22:26, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Wikipedical: That unilateral move was at 13:30, 10 November 2017. But since then at Talk:Louie (U.S. TV series)#Requested move 10 November 2017 at 13:43, 10 November 2017 a new move discussion was started (not by me) and has reached 9 messages and much strong difference of opinion; best let that argument run its course. Tobias Conradi moves
Hi, I see that you've been moving per a lot of requests from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Tobias_Conradi who is locally and globally banned entirely because of this kind of stuff. He's now operating out of IP ranges in Germany and focuses almost entirely on capitalization and his invented consistency of names, often changing something and then asking for everything else to be made consistent tot that. There's nothing to be gained from discussion from this chap and IPs should be blocked for a few hours, while accounts should be reported to meta for global locking. Many of his technical move requests have been rejected by other editors, see User talk:Tony1#Your false claim "usually not done" related to Abkhazia for one example. Links to the various ban discussions are on the SPI page and links to the numerous (prior) AN / ANI discussions are within those. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 01:36, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- @SpacemanSpiff: Should I go back through my contributions list and revert that sort of moves? Or what happens?
- Add User:213.39.166.84 :: see https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?oldid=809852707 ? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:54, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)I don't think that's necessary, this chap just usually has us spinning around about him, he's been at this since 2003 apparently, and was banned locally before I even started editing here. Not all his requests are wrong, it's just that someone would have to sift through to identify the good ones -- which is what they seem to prefer at CfD because he goes around and changes category descriptions and those are easily missed unless he lists iat CfD/speedy too, and apparently a few admins check that out there and weed out the crap, but we're still cleaning up some of his category mess from 2015. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive294#Tobias Conradi was my latest warning post at AN. This has all the discussions at the various AN boards. The SPI has more specific links. At this point, I would just ignore the IP requests from O2 Germany (geographic locations related) and block those IPs for a few hours as he'll switch pretty soon. A rangeblock isn't feasible without collateral damage, unfortunately. Sadly, this is nothing more than a time sink, especially since he phrases his requests to sound very policy based. —SpacemanSpiff 06:05, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- @SpacemanSpiff: Sorry :: but how do I find if an IPA address is from O2 Germany? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:08, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- If you click on the IP (signature), you should get this and from that, at the bottom you can click on "Geolocate" which gives you "ISP: O2 Deutschland" or "Whois" which gives you "Telefonica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG", I use a combination of both to check on it. A more cumbersome way is to go to www.whois.com and copy the IP in to the search box and click on whois, and that would give "descr: Telefonica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG". O2 is the older name for Telefonica, so I expect that the change in name will reflect soon enough on all these methods. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 06:17, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
Going to be funny how admins make themselves less productive while hunting a concept. Not only do they have to judge requests on their own merits but now they have to analyse, block [complete nonsense, since this makes the IP switch, which in turn makes related edits harder to find. ;-)]. Once there was one user. Then there were several. Now IPs. Now you try to hunt IPs. LOL. And the user did never do anything like vandalism, 3RR. He just applied WP policies. That's what makes his edits so hard to revert long-term. You can revert, ignore requests etc. But that only produces even more work, since other users/IPs will make the same requests later. Good luck with hunting Telefonica. There are dozens of internet access providers in Europe! LOL. 92.227.85.50 (talk) 07:59, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

About The Sun and Her Flowers, User:The Sun and Her Flowers, Draft:The Sun and Her Flowers, and The sun and her flowers, and so on
Hi Anthony,
It appears there are now two pretty much identical en:wp pages about this 2017 book of poetry by Canadian writer Rupi Kaur:
- Draft:The Sun and Her Flowers, created 16 November 2017
- The sun and her flowers, created 13 November 2017
Looking at the history of the various pages, there's a lot of page-movery and cut-and paste-erey that I quite frankly don't really understand enough to fix it.
AA, like it or not, you're en.wp's WP:CUTPASTE Czar.

I pinged you at User talk:Young Tom Fowdy Watchers. You deleted Draft:Tom Fowdy as an attack page. Maybe I'm missing something, but I am not seeing in the deleted history any evidence of being an attack page. The anonymous IP who tagged it with G10 sent me email saying he is the subject and regards it as personal, although we don't keep or delete articles based on the personal preferences of the subject. I've looked at some of the sources and it seems the draft article is well put together (so far as I've looked). Would you please explain? Is there some off-wiki hounding I'm not aware of? ~Anachronist (talk) 18:05, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- I am not a famous person and I do not meet wikipedia’s notability guideline TF92 (talk) 19:39, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- So you have said on my talk page. The sources in that draft article need to be examined more closely before any determination about your notability is made. The only thing that makes the draft suspicious is the username of the creator, not the content. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:50, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

AFCH Reply
Can you add the articles for creation helper, or if you don't, at least clean up AfC templates after you move drafts into mainspace? Thanks. -- I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ 00:16, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: By "clean up AfC templates" (see [4]), do you mean "remove them"? If so, when (as I sometimes am asked to) I history-merge page Draft:X into page X, any templates in the draft thus become old edits and thus are no longer active; and any draft-type templates in the latest edit of page X got there by someone else moving the page from draft to mainspace, either properly or by cut-and-paste. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:04, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, I mean "remove them", since there have been an unusual amount of drafts moving into mainspace where you've edited it.
- So, are you saying you're not moving drafts to begin with, and that the templates are, for all intents and purposes, being "added" by someone else moving the draft into mainspace? -- I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ 06:24, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: I have been asked many times to history-merge e.g. page Draft:X to page X, and see above. If I find in Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests a request to move e.g. page Draft:Y to page Y, I leave it to someone else to do (e.g. if the draft has no AfC template call), or I advise the asking user to wait until the AfC procedure has run its course. But sometimes non-admin users move drafts to mainspace, sometimes by the move procedure, sometimes by cut-and-paste. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:16, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- I realize that and actually deal with that a good deal; however, if you history-merge, would it perhaps make it falsely appear that you've add the AfC templates back in? I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ 20:33, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: History-merging page X to page Y involves, basically: delete Y; move X to Y; undelete Y. That may may make some automatic detector system think that the AfC template call has disappeared and then returned. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:32, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- So, is your answer to "would it perhaps make it falsely appear that you've add the AfC templates back in?" yes? I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ 04:15, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: Perhaps it may; that sort of automatic detector sees false positives sometimes. (The same happens with the system that looks for inappropriate usernames.) If someone has moved Draft:X to X by cut-and-paste, after I "delete X; move Draft:X to X; undelete X", the move process adds a new latest edit of X which is an automatic copy of the last edit of Draft:X , and I must revert it off to make the true last edit of X show, hence the edit comment "rv histmerge junk". I have unreviewed a page you curated
Hi, I'm Babymissfortune. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Rahul Aggarwal, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.
Babymissfortune 06:38, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Babymissfortune: See https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Rahul+Aggarwal . I did not knowingly curate or review anything. I found Rahul Aggarwal already prodded (= proposed for deletion) as "Fails WP:NBIO. Significant coverage not found.". I obeyed a request to history-merge User:Bombay4321/sandbox into Rahul Aggarwal, and then I AfD'ed Rahul Aggarwal with discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rahul Aggarwal. If any of this inadvertently caused curation or reviewing as a side-effect, I apologize. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:39, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- As far as I know, I accidentally misclicked "mark as unreviewed" button so I immediately clicked "mark as reviewed" (if you would notice). This may be the reason why I "messaged" you. No worries, there are no changes made. Thanks for noticing. Babymissfortune 10:48, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
IP user pages
Three times this year, you have created user pages for IP users with messages that were meant to be on the talk page. One of them, User:65.94.169.56, simply removed the misplaced message from the user page because a user talk page already existed. The other two, User:148.0.101.37 and User:92.226.212.49, have been moved to User talk:148.0.101.37 and User talk:92.226.212.49 respectively. Please be careful not to accidentally put messages on user pages again. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 23:48, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Moscow metro
Opening of the Moscow Central Circle made several article titles ambiguous, because there are now MCC stations operated by Moscow Metro having the same name. Could you move
- Avtozavodskaya (Moscow Metro) - Avtozavodskaya (Zamoskvoretskaya Line)
- Botanichesky Sad (Moscow Metro) - Botanichesky Sad (Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line)
- Dubrovka (Moscow Metro) - Dubrovka (Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line)
- Kutuzovskaya (Moscow Metro) - Kutuzovskaya (Filyovskaya Line)
- Okruzhnaya (Moscow Metro) - Okruzhnaya (Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line)
- Vladykino (Moscow Metro) - Vladykino (Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya Line)
to the disambiguated names? 85.181.106.144 (talk) 02:00, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, great help! Also thanks for replacing "namesake" with the actual name [5]. Two more articles:
- Timiryazevskaya (Moscow Metro) - Timiryazevskaya (Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya Line) - reason: Timiryazevskaya (Monorail)
- Tekstilshchiki (Moscow Metro) - Tekstilshchiki (Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line) - reason: Tekstilshchiki (Third Interchange Contour) (to be build, d:Q21152431)
And could you restore the - within Moscow Metro - consistent names, the line names are used in articles, in category names, as disambiguator etc.
It is not even clear if the long-hyphen is correct, since the Russian WP does not have it, might be proper name. If it is changed it should be done for all articles, categories, dab pages and templates, but there are probably 400 pages affected. Not counted articles containing links to these. 92.227.88.43 (talk) 15:47, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- @92.227.88.43: The "long-hyphen" is usually called a dash. For hyphens versus dashes, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Dashes. Please list here some examples of page names where you want me to insert a dash. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 17:26, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the moves of the articles having ambiguous titles. Re en/em dash and hyphen: It states that Guinea-Bissau is OK. Similiarly the line names are proper names, not generic as in "Japanese–American trade". It is "Калининско-Солнцевская", cf. http://tass.ru/moskva/3917686 and google Калининско-Солнцевская+site%3Aru. The user hopped in, made ca. 10 edits and left the articles in an inconsistent state. What would be needed are more likely 500 or 1000 edits. And this does not only affect Moscow Metro, but other Metro systems in Russia, since currently all consistently use uppercase for the type name as is done for streets, districts, oblasts, republics etc. The four pages should be moved back and the topic be discussed in WP:RUSSIA. 92.227.88.43 (talk) 18:03, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- @92.227.88.43: Done the 4 moves, and I tidied some resulting double redirects. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:56, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- @92.227.88.43 and 77.179.21.125: I found in https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_moves/Technical_requests&oldid=814452721 and obeyed requests to make these 4 moves:-
- Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line → Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line
- Aviamotornaya (Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line) → Aviamotornaya (Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line)
- Shosse Entuziastov (Kalininsko–Solntsevskaya line) → Shosse Entuziastov (Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line)
- Template:Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line RDT → Template:Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line RDT
- all 4 with this explanation: "rv undiscussed disruptive, all metro lines in Russia use upper case type name ("X Line") and use "-" as in Russian source, these are proper names, like Guinea-Bissau. Get consensus at WP:RUSSIA first. This affects 100s of articles, categories, dab pages, templates. 77.179.21.125 (talk) 21:29, 8 December 2017 (UTC)". Please discuss what is to be done, rather than subjecting me to contradictory requests. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:47, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Anthony Appleyard, thanks a lot again! One error: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya_Line&diff=814453413&oldid=814396799 this station page should go to Aviamotornaya (Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line) and the line page (deleted https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya+Line) should go there. 77.180.3.248 (talk) 01:18, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
Mis-moved
Your move here was wrong, looks like it mixed up different parts of the several requests. I don't mind my moves being reverted, but this didn't quite do that. Dicklyon (talk) 03:36, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
In particular, you moved a station article to a line article. The line article is now missing altogether, as far as I can tell. Dicklyon (talk) 04:38, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- Once that gets sorted, out, see Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#RfC: Russian railway line article titles. It seems cleaner to resolve this with an RfC, since it'll affect more than just four articles. I've pointed the now-open, four-article RM to the RfC, and suggested the RM be deferred. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 04:42, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- What a mess. I have restored the article that was bizarrely deleted and have re-attached the talk pages to the relevant articles. The moves should also all be reverted to the status quo ante of two days ago; if I get a chance today I'll do that. Jenks24 (talk) 05:18, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- PS: In move summary where I said something like "mover knows full well that an full RM has been requested" I thought the IP-hopping anon had done the re-un-move or whatever; didn't notice that it as AA responding in good faith to the RM/TR request. This has also turned into a pointless ANI discussion, at WP:ANI#Moscow metro - WP:RMT logic. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 05:58, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish, Jenks24, and AlexTheWhovian: Sorry. That move abovementioned at "Your move ..." was as asked for by User:77.179.21.125 in this edit of page Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. The faulty move of a station article to a line name (Aviamotornaya (Kalininsko–Solntsevskaya line) to Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line) was the 3rd of 5 moves asked for in this edit of Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests; it was asked for by User:213.39.186.16 . Thanks to User:Jenks24 and User:AlexTheWhovian for tidying this up. It seems that I better ignore any more move requests by IP users in this matter. (About "the IP-hopping anon", some computer link lines automatically choose another IP number each time they are activated.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:11, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- I know, but this user is using it to evade 3RR, etc. Covered at the ANI thread. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 07:22, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- You or another admin may want to look into this; this editor is altering the RfC to suit their viewpoint and misrepresent the question and what various answers to it would mean, then burying it in repeat arguments to make it hard for people to follow. Has already hit 5RR at this point, as diffed at the ANI thread, but so far no one has taken any action (presumably because it's dark:30 in the Western Hemisphere where the bulk of the active admins are). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 10:08, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Moving Global Force Wrestling (2014–2017) to Global Force Wrestling
I noticed that you recently moved Global Force Wrestling (2014–2017) to Global Force Wrestling due to Special:PermanentLink/814108338. Can you please undo this move? It had now linked hundreds of pages to the wrong promotion? Thanks - GalatzTalk 15:06, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
I have started a discussion on the appropriate wikiproject to resolve what to do with the page, however an IP user (probably the one who asked for the original move) is attempting to unilaterally dictate what happens without participating in the discussion here Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling#GFW article. Can you restrict the redirect until the issue can be resolved through the proper channels? Thanks - GalatzTalk 18:18, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- User:Galatz - Global Force Wrestling referred to Global Force Wrestling (2014–2017) for 3 years, and only for four months it referred to Impact Wrestling. - Well, I guess I didn't think that a request to move the article for the "old" GFW from a title with the years in it to one without the years in it would be contested. I mean, since the article for the "new" GFW got re-titled back to Impact Wrestling, I figured the article for the "old" one no longer needed the years in the title. And, I didn't know that, apparently, being the move requester, I had to start the discussion. 2602:304:CEBF:8650:E004:548B:7400:5233 (talk) 09:20, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Vehement objection to moving Security and Maintenance to Windows Defender Security Center
Hello, Mr. Appleyard
I am here to vehemently contest your moving of the Security and Maintenance article to the Windows Defender Security Center title. The reason you have give is wildly false: Since Windows 10 Creators Update the feature is renamed to Windows Defender Security Center. No such thing! These two are the names of distinct apps that co-exist in all versions of all editions of Windows 10.
Here are screenshots of each:
I must confess I am a little frightened too. We are lucky vandals haven't yet thought of vandalism in the form of requested technical moves! But of course, I believe had you looked even briefly at the article text, you'd have known better.
