Malcolm Jamaal Davis[6][7] (born April 12, 1992), better known by his stage name MadeinTYO (pronounced Made in Tokyo), is an American hip hop recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia.[8] He is best known for his debut single, "Uber Everywhere" from his mixtape You Are Forgiven.

Early life

Malcolm Jamaal Davis was born on April 12, 1992 in Honolulu, Hawaii.[9] He grew up as a military brat, moving around and living in areas such as San Diego, Virginia, and Texas before spending the rest of his teenage years in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, finishing high school in Japan's Nile C. Kinnick High School.[8][10] Davis was inspired to begin writing music after watching his cousin produce music in his room while living in Washington, D.C.[11][12]

After high school, Davis moved back to Atlanta, Georgia with his older brother, rapper Robert "24hrs" Davis (formerly known as Royce Rizzy)[13][8][14]

Career

In an interview with XXL, MadeinTYO cited 24hrs, Pharrell, M.I.A. and Gucci Mane as influences.

Personal life

Davis began dating Philadelphia based painter and digital artist, Distortedd in late 2015. The couple announced that they were expecting a baby boy in June 2016 via social media. Their son True, was born on January 29, 2017.[20] Davis and his girlfriend Distortedd (real name Anhia Santana) also announced that they were engaged on February 14, 2017.[21]

Davis has a brother, 24hrs, who is also a rapper.

Davis currently lives in Los Angeles, California with his fiancée and son.[10]
