Made a little change in the beginning of DM history.
Hey,
I made a little adjustment to the early history of DM. The band French Look was started around the same time Composition of sound was formed. You can read this in Jonathan Miller's book "Stripped" on page 27.
Further information: (Also when you look at the website : depechemode-live.com you can find more info)
Composition of Sound's first official gig was at Paddocks community centre, Laindon on May 30, 1980. They did also some rehearsals at Woodlands School, Basildon before this date. Composition of Sound's first gig with Dave Gahan was at Nicholas Comprehensive, Basildon on June 14, 1980. Their first gig under the name Depeche Mode was at Bridge House, London on September 24, 1980.
Composition of Sound & later on Depeche Mode had several songs they played live: "Television Set" "The price of love", Tomorrow's dance", "Reason man" "Addiction", "I like it"... Some of them were covers. They were never officialy recorded, only on some bootlegs.
"Radio News" was a unreleased song on their 1rst demo with Dave, along with the songs "Ice Machine" & "Photographic". "Let's get together" was also an unreleased song on an Vince Clarke demo. "Television Set" was a song written by a friend of Vince Clarke, called Jason Knott. Vince heared this song while he was rehearsing with this friend Jason and drummer Pete Hobbs. Later it was on a demo from No Romance in China, further on a Vince Clarke demo and at last ending up with Composition of Sound/Depeche Mode
(on some places their where little faults in the DM biography but I believe this website did the right research, sometimes with photographic evidence)
If it's necessary to place this info in DM early history page right here, you should search for legally links to put it up here.
About the origins of Depeche Mode dating back to 1977 I find it very unlikely concerning the band No Romance in China doing only one gig in 1979. In this book Stripped from Jonathan Miller there's written about the drummer Pete Hobbs being in the band No Romance in China before being in Norman and the Worms with Martin Gore and Phil Burdett. That indicates that 1977 could be right. When I read this book there is not much mentioning about dates from their early history. There's also much talk about the fact most bands were disorganised in those days. So maybe they started much bands and split them up after a while, being in several bands at the same time, ... Or some members came probably later in the band...So long ago and obviously they did not registrate every info.

WHAT'S THAT WITH ALL THOSE SINGLES GONE IN THE NAVIGATION BOX???
Why are all those singles gone in the navigation box?
-But not tonight -Strangelove'88 -Everything Counts (live) -Enjoy the Silence'04 (sometimes also did mysteriously disappear) -Personal Jesus 2011
AREN'T THEY SINGLES ANYMORE?
Is this some joke to hurt the REAL Depeche Mode fans? I've read on some page about 2 articles of the same single.
ARE YOU STUPID? THEY ARE JUST LINKS (so there aren't 2 articles) AND SHOULDN'T BE GONE HERE.
I've placed some info on several DM Wikipedia sites without links, sorry about that, but I know my stuff. I'm not doing that anymore, if you want to blame me. It was meant just to help out. NOTHING MORE!
Ever heared of www.depechemode.com???
BUT THESE SINGLES GONE IN THE NAVIGATIONBOX HERE PISSES ME OFF VERY MUCH!!!

Quote at Depeche Mode:
- In a webcast interview with Rob Bell on 25 January 2016, Martin Gore announced a projected return to the recording studio in April, with both Gore and Gahan having already written and demoed new songs.[citation needed]
https://robbell.podbean.com/e/episode-68-martin-gore-from-depeche-mode/ - "The RobCast » Blog Archive » Episode 68 | Martin Gore from Depeche Mode" is a webcast where Rob Bell interviews Martin Gore in 25 January 2016. Maybe I didn't listen hard (I was listening and doing other things) enough but I didn't here anything about "a projected return to the recording studio in April, with both Gore and Gahan having already written and demoed new songs"

Quote at Depeche Mode:
- Depeche Mode are frequently praised by the music press; they became "the most popular electronic band the world has ever known" according to Q magazine,[citation needed]
Looking at Q magazine covers #1 to #119 the text "depeche mode" only occurs on #31:
- "How depeche mode took the work by stealth" --http://www.qthemusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/031.png (from https://www.qthemusic.com/q-cover-archive/) Q magazine April 1989 is for sale at http://amazon.com
I stopped looking at #119: http://www.qthemusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/119.png; there are 356 total covers currently: view-source:https://www.qthemusic.com/q-cover-archive/
http://www.dw.com/en/depeche-mode-releases-spirit-an-unusually-political-album/a-37989870 also states that '"Q" magazine' said the citation needed quote: Which was written first?
