National Highway 6 (or Asian Highway 46), in Jalgaon district at the northern border of Maharashtra State in India.It is located in Khandesh region of North Maharashtra. Muktainagar is famous for its association with Muktai, the younger sister of Saint Dnyaneshwar, Sant Muktabai is a Varkari sant and also called as Aadishakti Sant Muktabai. Muktainagar is famous due to associate Sant Muktabai. who attained Samādhi on the banks of the Tapti River at a place called Mehun (15 km from Muktainagar).
Muktainagar (formerly known as Edlabad) is a small town situated nearMuktainagar is one of 15 tehsils in the Jalgaon district (formerly known as East Khandesh) and is in the Bhusawal subdivision for administrative purposes. It had a population of about 60,853 in 2017.
Muktainagar is administrative centre of Muktainagar taluka,[1] and contains a police station, a government hospital, and the Panchayat samiti offices.
Weather
Winter are midret cold. Temperature drops 30 to 4 degree Celsius. Summers are extremely hot temperature goes beyond 40 to 49 degree Celsius. Rainy season is midret. Some time floods also occur.
Muktainagar Forest
North corner of the Muktainagar taluka have big Forest. Once their animals like Tigers, Dear,Bears, Barshinga,Chitta,wild Pigs, Wild Cats was found in huge number. but due extreme hunting none of these animals existing. Illegal hunting is the coz of extinction of these animals. Trees like Neem, Sag, Tamarind trees, Pimpl, mangroves near Purna river are comnly seen here. Due deforestation Jungle are in endangered and the animals and Birds species like Crow, Sparrows, Woodpecker bird,Bagada,Titur,Peacock are endangered species.Pythgon,Magar(Crocodiles) are extinct. Due to improper ways in Fishing lots of Fish species are endangered. Due to deforestation lots of animals leave forest and come into the Fields in search of food. Monkeys are often comes and attack on Cotton,Ground nuts,Egg plants vegetation. Wild Pigs attack on Ground nuts,Sugarcane etc.

Cricket is very popular sport in Muktainagar, Muktainagars near villages. Peoples watch cricket and play cricket. Viti dandu is popular in villages.The Kabbadi, Kho Kho is also take place in School.
History
Old town, named Edlabad (a name given by Muslim rulers of that time), was situated on the banks of Purna river.
The city have very great significance in Varkari sampraday because according to Varkari sampraday 'Aadishakti Muktabai' been gupta here. Every month on the occasion of Ekadashi and pandharvadi Ekadashi people's from all around the citys and villages come here. A Huge Fair happen here every year in February on MahaShivratri. Fair take place at two places one at Old Muktabai temple and anathor one at New Muktabai temple. On Ashadi and Kartiki Ekadashi people comes here in great number. People from outside the district also come here. In 1959 there was a huge flood in the old town and many places of Muktainagar taluka. Ghodasgaon village which is 10km away from the city was affected and many villagers lost their lives. Due to threat of flooding and the planned Hatnur Dam, Government decided to migrate the villages from there to present location near National Highway number 6. Government gave plots to the people according to their old plots in old town. In 2000 a ceremony took place at the city where name was changed to the modern name of Muktainagar.
The main water supply of city is from Purna river. Since the Hatnur Dam was built, the river basin contains a large reservoir. Before that the river was totally dry and people were able to cross river by walking through it. Most of the co-operative societies are named after river.

Muktainagar contains 5,352 households and a population of 23,970, of which 12,433 are males while 11,537 are females.[1]
The population of children with age 0-6 is 3201 which makes up 13.35% of total population of village. The sex ratio of Muktainagar village is 928 which is close to Maharashtra state average of 929. Child sex ratio is 820, lower than Maharashtra average of 894.
Muktainagar village has higher literacy rate compared to Maharashtra. In 2011, literacy rate of Muktainagar village was 84.41% compared to 82.34% in Maharashtra. In Muktainagar male literacy stands at 88.86% and female literacy at 79.70%.

Economy
Small businesses like cloth shop, restaurants, Electronic shops, Agriculture, Odd jobs, labourer in agricultural sector and religious tourism, Government jobs are the source of most jobs in Muktainagar. The predominant crops in the tehsil are Cotton, Onion, Banana, Jowar and Groundnuts are grown on the banks of the Tapi and Purna rivers.
sugarcane are now a days become main crop in the taluka. The sugare after harvest transport to nearby Sugar factorys viz. Madukarao sugar factory, Muktai sugar factory, Shiv shakti sugar factory. Maiz, Wheat, Japan, Pea nuts, Soya bean, Potato, Banana, Turmeric, Sun flowers etc. are the main crops in the taluka.
Culture
Maharashtriyan people celebrate the festivals of Gudi Padwa, Diwali, and Poda. On Ekdashi, Muktainagar Varkari pilgrims go to the Muktabai temple at Muktainagar. People also go on pilgrimage to Pandharpur, to meet the god Pandurang. In the month of February on Ekadashi, two days before Maha Shivaratri, a fair takes place at Muktabai temple. People come to meet the goddess, Muktabai, and to take blessings from the goddess. A number of palaquins come to Muktainagar every year
In Changdev, a village near Muktainagar, there is a temple of Yogi Changdev Maharaj located. On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, there huge fair take place every year on the banks of the Purna river. The temple was built in the Hemadpanthi style of architecture this temple is in the list of Archilogical Survey of India (ASI) as heritage site one can see the board of ASI out side of the temple. According to the legend, folk tails this temple was built when there was six months log night. The temple is preentst near the Purna river. The ghat of the river is said to built by Ahilybai Holkar. One temple which was present earlier near river now is in under water. Few decades before the fair is use to take in to the dry basin of river.
