Carrie Wong

Carrie Wong Si Tian (born 1 January 1994), is a Singaporean actress and model contracted under MediaCorp.

Biography

The only child of a housewife mother and retiree father who worked in a security firm, Wong was educated at Evergreen secondary school and graduated in 2014 with a Diploma course in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Nanyang Polytechnic, and it was during her final year when she made it to one of the top three contestants in Hey Gorgeous in 2013.

Career

Beginnings

Wong was chosen as one of the six contestants for the Preliminary Rounds of Hey Gorgeous. As the only girl contestant from Nanyang Polytechnic, she successfully made it into the Semi-Finals, followed by the Finals. Having emerged as Second Runner-Up, behind Winner and fellow Nanyang Polytechnic student, Alfred Low. In January 2014, Wong officially signed on to MediaCorp as a full-time artiste.

Entry into television dramas

In 2013, Carrie Wong, along with other Hey Gorgeous past contestants starred in their first drama on MediaCorp Channel U, Scrum, broadcast on February 2014. Wong portrayed a handicapped Sport Sciences polytechnic student.

Following her entry into MediaCorp as a full-time artiste in January 2014, she went on to play major roles in dramas, Against the Tide and The Journey: Tumultuous Times alongside veteran actors. The roles were not handed to her on a silver platter as she had to go through two rounds of auditions before she was cast as Christopher Lee's on-screen sister.

Her portrayals of a schizophrenic woman in Against the Tide, as well as that of a hot-tempered sweet soup seller in Tumultuous Times have garnered her popular acclaim as well as a nomination for Best Supporting Actress under the series Tumultuous Times and Top 10 Most Popular Artistes. She was nominated for Best Newcomer award, but lost to Aloysius Pang.

Wong has filmed some TV series such as 118 between 2014 and 2015, Sealed With A Kiss in 2015 and Life - Fear Not between 2015 and 2016; followed closely with The Gentlemen, You Can Be An Angel 2 and cameo appearance in blockbuster Hero. She has also wrapped up her filming for 118 II.

In 2017, she has filmed Dream Coder and end-of-year blockbuster My Friends from Afar.
