English name
I realize the current article name ("Xiaolin") is from the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of 小林, but the spelling of the village as "Siaolin" (using Tonyong Pinyin) seems to be more common in English language media. Thoughts? Thanks! -Multivariable (talk) 11:19, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- My opinion is to keep it as Xiaolin; the Taiwanese government has adopted Hanyu Pinyin as official, and unless that stance is reversed (and I am not going to claim that it definitely won't), I think that we should keep it as it is. --Nlu (talk) 11:22, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine; I was just wondering what others thoughts about the naming based on official vs. common usage. I've created redirects for "Siaolin, Taiwan" and "Siaolin" to redirect here. -Multivariable (talk) 11:39, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Mandychoi1013 contribution
I reorganized previous information; added three new sources (two journals and one article) and checked existing sources; and added on impacts on the industries and ecosystems, rescue, and how the broken dam effected the severity of the landslide. I clarified how the typhoon didn't kill because of winds or floods but because it triggered another disaster. Mandychoi1013 (talk) 04:25, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
