On June 2017, it was announced that MGM had acquired film rights for the novel Every Day with Angourie Rice attached to star as Rhiannon from a screenplay by Jesse Andrews, author of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, with Michael Sucsy directing.[3]

In July 2017, the rest of the main cast was announced[1] as the film began production in Toronto, Ontario Canada.[4] The film was shot in Toronto, from July 6, 2017 until August 12, 2017.[4]

It was previously announced that the film would see release on February 2, 2018, with Orion Pictures distributing in wide release for MGM.[5] However, the release date was then pushed back to April 27, 2018[6] before finally settling on February 23, 2018.[7]
