David Williams (born February 26 1988) is an Australian football player for Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF. He is a striker and has played for Australia at both U-17 and U-20 levels, and has been labelled as 'one of the best prospects we have had in Australia since Harry Kewell.'[1]

Born in Brisbane, Australia, Williams attended Kelvin Grove State College participating in the soccer school of excellence while also being a member of the Queensland Academy of Sport soccer squad. He was most noted for being selected in both of Australia's squads for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands and the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru; however, as the World Youth Championship (U-20) was held before the U-17 World Championship, Williams was ruled ineligible to play in Peru leaving Australia with only 19 members in its squad.[2]

He spent time training with Belgian club RSC Anderlecht and defending UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool FC, and in January 2006, he signed for Australian A-League side Queensland Roar for the remainder of the 2005-06 season.[1] Following two games as a substitute for Roar, he moved abroad in May 2006 to play for Danish team Brøndby IF on a three-year contract.[3] At Brøndby he was included in the reserve team, and after 12 goals in five reserve team matches, he made his first team debut on August 5 against AC Horsens. He has since featured against AaB in the Danish Superliga, and against German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Cup. Although Williams has become very popular among the supporters, he still hasn't gained a regular spot in the first team. On the 17th of September, he travelled with the reserves for the match against Greve Fodbold. In that game he scored two goals, and he has now scored seven goals in the seasons first seven games. Brøndby IF faced Brønshøj BK in the Danish Cup on the 20th of September and René Meulensteen had found a spot for the young Australian in the side. Williams played the entire match and had a goal called off for offside.
