The Young Riders is a dramatic western that aired from 1989-1992 and featured a fictionalized accounting of a group of young Pony Express riders. The riders included soft spoken southern "The Kid" (Miller), hot-tempered James Butler Hickok (Brolin), William F. Cody (Baldwin), mute Ike, half Kiowa Buck Cross (Rainwater), and woman in disguise Lou (Suhor). In the second season, they were joined by free born black man Noah Dixon (Franklin). The station was run by Teaspoon Hunter, a colorful character and former Texas Ranger. The station is run by tough, but loving Emma Shannon (Leo) who leaves at the end of Season 1 when she marries Marshall Sam Cain (Cullen). After that, Rachel Dunne (Wren) takes on the roll of station mother. Season 3 also has a young Jesse James (Pettiet) joining the gang. |
|||
By its nature of focusing on the Pony Express, which lasted only one year, the show was designed to last only three seasons. |
