A brony or bronies are fans of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic franchise.

Brony (pronounced bro-knee; a combination of “bro” and “pony”) is predominantly male between the ages of 14 and 27 that is a fan of the animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the 2010 reboot of the original 1980s cartoon. There are also a small number of female fans that consider themselves as Bronies. According to the My Little Pony Subreddit, Brony is gender-neutral.

A Brony may spend inordinate amounts of time watching and participating in online discussion of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Bronies make up a large amount of the 65,000+ members on the Subreddit community for My Little Pony and most of their connections are developed and maintained online. Some Bronies also attend in-person meetups at events such as BronyCon to meet other Bronies, dress up as their favorite characters, share artwork and trade memorabilia.

Because of the Brony stereotype, many who identify themselves as a Brony are bullied and ridiculed for being a fan of a “little girls’ show”. While there have proven to be some rogue fans of the show, they are the minority. The majority of Bronies are said to be introverted, kind and open-minded individuals.
