Chamakeri is a village in the Belgaum district of Athani taluk in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[2]

Temples

Chamakeri is home to the Shree Sadashiva Mutt, Shree Hanuman, and Shree Mahalaxshmi temples, respectively.

Shri Sadashiva Mutt, Sukshetra Chamakeri

Shri Sadashiva Mutt, Sukshetra Chamakeri is one of the Hindu pilgrims in the northern district of Karnataka. Shree Guru Chakravartin Sadashiv Murthy (Muthya) of Babaladi village in Bijapur district had a mutt in Chamakeri. It is one Babaladi mutt amongst others, every year, in Akshatadigi Amavasya celebrating Yatra Mahotsava, which is celebrated for 5 days and a cattle fair is organised as a part of it.

Agriculture

Of the total land in the village, more than 80% is fertile[citation needed] and can be used to grow crops. The farmers mainly grow sugar cane, grapes, maize and sorghum. Lemons, onions and turmeric are also grown but are less common. Irrigation is mainly based upon water canals and wells in the ground.

Transportation

Chamakeri is directly connected to the Taluk headquarters Athani and Bijapur - Athani State Highway.

Education

In the village, there is the Government Higher Primary School (HPS, Chamakeri), which is working with 1st to 7th grade and has more than 500 students. The Government Marathi Higher Primary School is also working in the village. A privately aided primary and high School is run by Shri Sadashiv Mutt - the Shivayya Swamiji Primary and High School, Chamakeri. A hostel and an orphanage are also run by Mutt. The village has a literacy rate of about 65%.

Trusts

In the village, there are some associations that host cultural activities, sports programs and other activities.

Festivals

The villagers mainly celebrate Shri Sadashiv Jatra Mohostava. Kara Hunnume, Nagara Panchami, Deepavli, Ugadi and Dassara are also celebrated.
