Tariq Bajwa is the 19th and current Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.[1] He is the third bureaucrat to be appointed as head of the central bank. He is the only Pakistani who won the prestigious Littauer fellowship at Harvard University.[2] Bajwa took over the responsibilities at the central bank on July 7, 2017.

Previously, he served as a civil servant belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service.[3] He served as Pakistan Secretary of Economic Affairs from November 2015 to February 2017, and as Finance Secretary of Pakistan from February to July 2017.[4] He was remained the chairman of Federal Board of Revenue from July 2013 to October 2015.[5]
