References for the 1941 coup and British invasion of Iraq


Where does the name Iraq come from?

Did the british rename the mesopotamian areas when they called it Iraq or did they simply revert the name to an ancient pre-Ottoman-Empire name for those areas? What does the name mean? Does it actually have any meaning?
