Ella Ochoa was the Executive Director at NAF Multicultural Human Development Corporation (closed 2011)
Biography
She was born in Laredo and raised in Cotulla, Texas[1]
She founded the Nebraska Association of Farm workers (NAF) on October 1, 1979. She also was a member of the Farmworker Justice Fund Inc in 1995-2003.[2]
NAF (1979-2011)
The NAF was a widespread organization that had headquarters in Nebraska inclduing Scottsbluff, North Platte, Grand Island, Lincoln, and Omaha and was running from 1979-2011. The NAF organization had many benefits for immigrant workers including educational, developmental, and social needs. However, even with the many years under their belt, the organization was not able to stay running and closed in 2011.[3]
Awards
Ella Ochoa deserves recognition for her dedication towards the farmworkers on helping them achieve a better life and path for future terms. People in the Northern Plate look up to her as an inspiration for she has received many prestigious awards and honors on her behave. Ella Ochoa has received The Mexican Othli in 1997, which is one of the highest honors one can receive for someone who devoted their time bringing a better life for men and women. Other awards she received was the Nebraska commission of the status of women “Women of the year”.
