Early and personal life

K R Tony (കെ ആർ ടോണി) was born 23 May 1964 at Thrissur to VL Rappai & CA Mary. K R Tony is an Indian poet, translator [2] based at Thrissur K R Tony Graduated in botany from St. Thomas College, Thrissur in 1984, later he has done his post graduation in malayalam from Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur in 1986, further he took post PG Diploma in journalism. Besides he has completed training course in Book Publishing from National Book Trust, Delhi He is currently working as Assistant Professor in Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Regional Cantre , Thrissur. K R Tony has been contributing poems and poetic studies in leading literary journals and periodicals of Kerala since 1980; Samanila, his first collection of poems established him as one of the prominent voices in contemporary Malayalam poetry; later his poem collections published in order: ANDHAKANDAM, DAIVAPPATHI[3], OH! NISHADA, PLAMENAMMAYI[4] and YAKSHIYUM MATTUM[5]. His studies on literature titled : POREZHUTH published in 20010. his poems have been translated into various Indian languages and are included in several anthologies of Malayalam as well as Indian poetry of the post-modern phase. His OH! NISHADA, has won Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 2013.[6]
