Controversy

A cleaning worker in the athlete's village noted used needles in the Indian section of the athlete's village. This worker reported this to anti-doping officials and an investigation was launched.[5] These syringes were found near the Indian boxing team's accommodations.[6] Local authorities raided the room of four boxers and confiscated their possessions. The boxers initially denied the needles belonged to them, but eventually confessed to the use of the syringes.[7] After the raid, all 12 members of India's boxing team, underwent doping tests. All sportsmen were later declared innocent.
