After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the successor countries all set up their own national teams. Still, the non-[[Balts]] former [[Republics of the Soviet Union|Soviet republics]] (known as the [[Commonwealth of Independent States]]) won the gold medal at the [[1992 Summer Olympics]] as the [[Unified Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics|Unified Team]], but that victory does not count as a Soviet success.
