:But it wasn't started there :-) We both posted at the same time in different places, and my post was not a response to yours (nor was your post a response to mine). You can remove other people's posts from your user talk page, that's not a problem; you can't change the wording or remove parts of posts, but it's perfectly allowable to remove a post (it is taken as an indication that you have read it). But adding or moving someone else's words and signature to a different page is usually not a good idea unless you have mutually agreed to move the conversation, first. --bonadea <small>contributions talk</small> 20:24, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

Publishing articles

Hello, I seem to not be able to publish my articles(please view my sanbox), and I read that I need to be autoconfirmed. As you can see via my sandbox I have created a couple articles, and my request is that you as an admin would with you rights give me an autoconfirm right so that I can publish my articles and more, thank you! --VitalPower (talk) 15:25, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The autoconfirmed user right is automatically granted after your account is 4 days old and you've made 10 edits. I would highly suggest going through the WP:AFC process to publish your first articles, as the assistance given through that process by experienced editors can drastically reduce the likelihood that your articles are deleted for not adhering to Wikipedia's policies. Otherwise, you'll need to wait a few more days before you can publish on your own. Best of luck. clpo13(talk) 16:04, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Clpo13 Hi Cody, thank you for responding. I know that I may wait 4 days to get this right, however you as an admin could give me this right if I have a good reason, well: I 1. would like it to move my pages(either into or out of drafts), and 2. I would very like to use the bot called WP:Twinkle, I hope you know understand and could give me this right soley for my reasons, thank you. --VitalPower (talk) 16:14, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but accounts are very rarely confirmed outside the usual waiting period and then only for a very good reason. There are lots of articles on Wikipedia that you can contribute to right now, but you'll need to wait before you can publish your own. clpo13(talk) 16:32, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Clpo13 I understand and respect your saying Cody. Regarding WP:Twinkle that is a bot I would very like to use, for when I create drafts, fix my articles as well as them already in Wikipedia etc. - Soley on this reason, may you give me the autoconfirmed right, or as an admin could you somehow give me a right to us the Twinkle bot, I have read that I cannot activate it until I am autoconfirmed or an admin via request gives it to me. thank you --VitalPower (talk) 16:35, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since Twinkle has the potential for being used abusively by vandals, access to it is restricted only to editors who meet the autoconfirmed criteria. As with article creation, early access to it is restricted to very rare circumstances, usually only when a legitimate alternate account of an existing, experienced user requests it. I understand wanting to dive right in to Wikipedia, but four days is not a long time, and there are many things you can do without being autoconfirmed. Take a look at Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome to Wikipedia for more on what you can help out with right now. clpo13(talk) 17:42, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I have 2 questions 1.How do I get a cool user page with userboxes that say I am intrested in x and I live x and I speak x etc? 2. How do I archive my talk page which I have seen many users do, usually when I am on Wiki users page they have lots of cool things, I usually just copy theirs but if someone could shortly explain on how to arhive that would be great. --VitalPower (talk) 17:59, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 1. You may want to check out WP:Userboxes/Galleries which links to galleries for various kinds of userboxes sorted by topic. WP:Userboxes also has some information on displaying them in a nice way. And there is WP:User page design center which deals with user page design beyond userboxes.
 2. There are various ways to archive talk pages; personally I do "manual cut&paste", but there are also some bots that can be summoned to automatically archive talk pages. Help:Archiving a talk page explains the details. Huon (talk) 18:10, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Huon Thanks for the answer! Means a lot!--VitalPower (talk) 18:18, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your NACs

Welcome to Wikipedia!

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd strongly recommend you refrain from closing AfDs for at least a little while. You've skipped some steps, and I'm not entirely convinced that GNG is met based on the arguments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zehra Say. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:27, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Power~enwiki - Hello sir, yup I have read the AfD intro, NAC policy and req. etc. - My reason on that closing was soley for a conc. reachpoint, as you can see it has been live for 7days(in about 1-2 hours) and the verdict was a keep based on WP:GNG. I do however think I should have done some self-digging myself, but again, my reason was soley on the verdict reason of the discussion. --VitalPower (talk) 21:31, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted your NAC

I have reverted the above NAC as inappropriate. Again, do not close discussions until you have more experience, and never use a supervote in a closing rationale. Feel free to remove this note like you removed my previous post, but do not paste my post to my user talk page. Thank you. --bonadea contributions talk 23:39, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Thank you for your enthusiasm and desire to contribute but please do not close discussions until you have spent more than a day becoming familiar with Wikipedia and its policies and guidelines. One of the quickest ways to get a poor reputation here is by making bad closes, particularly when you have no experience editing here. For instance you should have an established record !voting at WP:AFD before you start closing discussions, even then it is best to let an administrator do so. Also, closing discussions as you have at WP:TEAHOUSE can cut off discussion with new users, prevent them from asking follow-up questions and may come off as rude or abrupt. Spend some time editing and participating in the various processes here. There is a vast difference between reading Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and being experienced with how they are applied in practice. Thank you. Jbh Talk 00:29, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
JbhunleyI understand. I will only close AfDs within my expertise or certain closes, regarding overall discussion in teahouse I will only close old ones, sounds good? --VitalPower (talk) 00:33, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No. Stop making closes until you have actually participated in WP:AFD and established a track record. Do not make closes at TEAHOUSE or other boards until you have an understanding of what should be closed and what should be left to be archived off by the maintenance bot.
It is great that you want to participate in the maintenance of Wikipedia but it is not helpful if another editor must follow you around to make sure you did no improper closes because you do not understand the processes. Several editors have brought up issues with you here about closing discussions so it is quite likely that the next step will be bringing the matter up at WP:ANI. That would be unfortunate because it would indicate that your enthusiasm overwhelmed your judgment. Good judgment, along with a practical familiarity with the application of Wikpedia's policies and guidelines, is key to making good closes. While failure to exercise good judgment helps no one. Jbh Talk 00:49, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree completely with Jbhunley. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:28, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everyone Jbhunley,Cullen328. In light of these messeges, I will respectfully follow them and 1. not close Afds debates, 2. not close discussion in the Teahouse. I hope you guys are happy with my following of your suggestions. --VitalPower (talk) 08:30, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Some bubble tea for you!

Welcome and thanks for your recent edits. While closing an afd, it is a good practice to also add a link on the article talk page Template:Old AfD multi.
DBigXray Hello sir! Thanks for the welcome, yup I will keep that in mind from now on when I close an AfD. - Regarding archives I soley created them since I saw many Wikipedians having them, I will however take a look into ClueBot as I myself know coding a bit. Thanks for the tips and have a great day at ya! --VitalPower (talk) 22:52, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello VitalPower ,

We do not usually close discussions at the Teahouse. We encourage follow-up questions and input from other experienced editors. These are open-ended discussions until they are archived. The only exception is when someone is being disruptive or obviously trolling. Please let more experienced editors intervene in such cases. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:37, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What's your original account?

What is your original account and why are you using this now? It is very obvious that this isn't your first account, let alone your first 48 hours on the project, and you're already picking up fights with people. —SpacemanSpiff 01:40, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

SpacemanSpiff this is my first one, I have no other accounts, but I am good with coding and when I edit I usually just copy&paste edits that experienced admins do, ex: archviving,reply/pinging, discussion, afds, all of these are tasks that I have learnt my self by viewing the source code that Wikipedia offers--VitalPower (talk) 08:26, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ping tip

@VitalPower: - no problem. For future reference, your attempt to ping me did not work, as you need to sign a comment in the same edit to get a ping to register on talk pages. Stormy clouds (talk) 08:41, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Hello, I am wondering 2 things, I am thankfull for responses: 1. How do I properly ping a user when I am on not his/her talk page talking. 2. How do I after an edit conflict insert my prev. edit. ps, I usually read instructions so if anyone can refere me to instructions instead of taking their time to explain that is perfectly fine--VitalPower (talk) 08:49, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, VitalPower.
1. "Ping" is a generic term for sending a notification to the other editor, and you can see how I did it in this post using the u template. There are also similar templates such as ping - see the documentation on those links (by clicking on those links) for an explanation of the slight formatting differences. One important point is that the notification only happens if you sign your post using four tildes (~~~~) when you first create the post.
2.Edit conflicts are on of my pet hates - in the 21st century I find it hard to understand why it can't lock the page while somebody is editing it. Anyway, we need to deal with it when it happens. It's a bit complicated to describe so I will take your suggestion and point to the instructions at Help:Edit conflict.
I hope that helps - let me know if I can help further.--Gronk Oz (talk) 11:20, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just to add onto what User:Gronk Oz said:
To ping someone, copy this: ExampleUsername and paste it where you want to ping someone. Replace the ExampleUsername with the username of the user you want to ping, like this (pinging you): VitalPower so that the end result is:
@VitalPower: message text of what I pinged you about...
Hope that helps too! - zfJames Please ping me in your reply on this page (chat page , contribs) 12:37, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, reply to and ping are identical - in fact "ping" redirects to "reply to". So do Re, Replyto, Reply, and Yo. Pick whichever one you find easiest to remember, and use that.--Gronk Oz (talk) 12:48, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gronk Oz: and @ZfJames: Thank you so much for the helps!--VitalPower (talk) 18:04, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Don't revert a user's removal of posts on their own talkpage as you did here. Especially not with nonsense about "per policy". This is the rule. Leave Bonadea alone. Bishonen | talk 10:53, 12 May 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks, Bish. I do want to say to VitalPower that I may have been a bit sharp in my replies, and I probably shouldn't have been editing at 1.30am because it does make my temper a little shorter than usual. Still, assuming good faith is an important policy, and that means that immediately accusing other editors of POV editing in your first interaction with them is not appropriate, and in addition I explained exactly why I did the edit in its edit summary (that I hadn't finished my explanatory post to you before you posted to me was unfortunate) ; moving other people's posts is almost never a good idea unless agreed upon in advance (there are exceptions but this was not one) ; and not using English in discussions is also almost never appropriate (and frankly rather rude if you don't have very strong reason to believe that the person you are addressing doesn't understand English). And in addition there's the "policy" Bish mentioned, which is not a policy. Give people time to post to your talk page if they have reverted your edits, and remember to assume good faith - and never edit war. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 15:03, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi guys Bishonen and Bonadea. I understand. However for clarfication, I reverted it because the conv was started in his talk page, so I meant to move it there than to remove it. cheers --VitalPower (talk) 18:00, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But it wasn't started there :-) We both posted at the same time in different places, and my post was not a response to yours (nor was your post a response to mine). --bonadea contributions talk 20:24, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
BonadeaYes, I'd rather make friends than fight. I hope everything is good now, what are your feelings on the matter? I understand it was just a mix up of where the convo was supposed to be placed.--VitalPower 20:28, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
