Yairipok is a town[1] of around 9569 people (2011 census[2]) which consists of four main districts namely Imphal East, Thoubal, Senapati and Ukhrul in the Indian state of Manipur. According to a source on Youtube, Yairipok is famous for the Yairipok Thambalnu, which is a well known market[3] and may have been written about by Mathurabashimayum Nandakishor Sharma in 1966.[4]
Geography
Yairipok is located at 24° 40' 0" North, 94° 4' 0" East[5]. It has an average elevation of 845 metres (2772 feet). The thoubal river passes through the heart of the town. Yairipok has about 120 towns and villages. There are different kinds of communities such as viz- metei, metei pangal, naga, kuki and many others[citation needed]. Tulihal is the most educated area in Yairipok. [citation needed]

Tourism
Yairipok is one of the famous tourist spots in the state. It comprises rituals, harvest, landscapes, people, events etc.
Rituals: Kaina: a village which is responsible for the formation of Hinduism in Manipur is the most spectacular holy place in yairipok, the kaina temple is famous because, the idols in the govindaji temple in imphal is made from the jackfruit from this place. This place is located in the south-west of yairipok.
Kwarok Sarang Laisaba/Nongpok Ningthou: Another famous holy place famous thought the state for its blessings of lord Sarang Laisaba/Nongpok Ningthou is the Kwarok Sarang Laisaba/Nongpok Ningthou.Template:Clarfy This place is in Kekru, 2 km in the northern part of Yairipok town. It is believed that the blessings from the temple doesn't go in vain, so, many tourist rather than the festive season visited this hill, where the temple is on a top of a hill slope. Hindu people call Kwarok Mahadev, they pray on 5th Panchami.
Pineapple Festival
The andro development comity celebrates pineapple festival, one of the long and biggest occasions of manipur. Tons[clarification needed] of pineapple is sold here, a hut made of pineapple inspire the tourist and again the tourists were made entertained by the talented people from around manipur and abroad performs here, on the other hand the miss pineapple contest is a must in the different programs of this festival.The aim of the festival is to promote the pineapple products of Yairipok.
Andro
Andro is another famous tourist spot in Manipur, this place is popularly known for its ancient museum where tools of human civilization was found.[citation needed]
Leirongthel Pitra
A small village not far from Yairipok, Thoubal district. It is 6-7 km far from the town of Yairipok. The people of this village are hard working. Cultivation and seasonal jobs are the main work of the village. Recent press reports concerning sand mining restrictions[6].

Yairipok has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 54%.
