Since these parks have two very different locations, I want to be sure that if I merge them, their location will be noted in search. Can I add geocodes to both locations in the same article?Bhamilton2 (talk) 16:38, 9 May 2018 (UTC) Bhamilton2 (talk) 16:38, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you need to do so, just put a subsection on the new park will be Google enabled after passing npp. --Quek157 (talk) 16:44, 9 May 2018 (UTC) alternative is to add more reliable sources and make it less advert like to pass as stand alone articleQuek157 (talk) 16:52, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Need a Help

Hi, I'm Prem Shandilya, I have done more than 180 edits, and my account is more Than 4 month old, Please help me to get the "Extended Confirmed User" flag or at least "Confirmed User" flag on my account. SwagLevelHigh (talk) 06:29, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@SwagLevelHigh:, not correct forum, correct forum is WP:PERM, only administrators are allowed to give, not me. Thanks --Quek157 (talk) 10:21, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

Hello Quek157. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:01, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

On phrasing

Over the term used to describe the manafacturing concerns located at the Yishun industrial park in close proximity to Canberra MRT station (as mentioned in the second paragraph of the 'Location' article), wouldn't it be best to use the term 'companies' instead of 'industries'. This is because the term 'industries' is often used (from my experience) to refer to a line of work as a whole instead of individual business concerns (as it is utilsed in the article), whereas the term 'companies' is often used to describe individual business concerns in general. R22-3877 (talk) 14:44, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @R22-3877:, I will I agree with the word companies, however, I am really not keen to change as it can sound promotional and usually not referred in Wikipedia. And in the furture, this should be in talkpage of the main article, not here. Thanks a lot and hope to have more conversations there . --Quek157 (talk) 15:11, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if this is the right place to contact you. It is all still too complicated for me. The phrase that was rejected as a copyrights violation is actually just a description of what they do. If an organisation is big and has many tasks, who knows better what they do, than they themselves. So yes, I used their own words to describe what it is they do.

Now, I have rephrased the sentence. But in order to keep the information correct, I cannot change it too much now can I... Or it will not be the correct information anymore. I am in close contact with this organisation that I am describing. I have actually run my contents by them before I posted it on this wikipage. So there really is no issue of copyrights violation in this case, I believe.

So, to solve this 'rejection', what should I do best? Just put quotemarks around the sentence, or cite the source? But then I would have to undo my rephrasing again, now wouldn't I? Otherwise it is no longer a quote...

This is all so complicated. Just because it is the same description of their organisation. It shouldn't fall under copyrights violation. This is just rediculous actually! It's not their data I copied. It's just the description of what they do. Please help! (I feel like they people reviewing wiki are just doing everything they can to refuse my page instead of helping me get the page ready...)

@AngusWOOF and Doncram:, thanks for participating in the AFD. I decided to withdrawl my nomination and merge it to the target site Balete,_Aklan#Education. Hi Quek157, Thanks for your review. I will remove the website and leadership. I thought it was useful to have the leadership but will remove. I'll also edit down the history part. It's a society that has been around a long time and wanted to capture it's role in Singapore. I understand you've not heard about it but thought its community works and history would be important for Wales-Singapore connections. It's a small community of people but has a long history that I am trying to capture.

Anne Laidam - reliable sources

Hello and thanks for reviewing my draft,

I'm a first time editor and doing my best, thank you in advance for your patience! I have attempted to address the rejection advise given me, but it appears I'm not improving the article I'm working on. I'd just like to ask if there is any source in the article that you can regard as "reliable", or if they are all disqualified as such?, having read the beginners guided and taking heed from a previous rejection ("wikipedia articles never can be sources"), I'm just trying to see if there's any hope for material. I will certainly not find anything in NYT or any major news outlets about this painter. I have asked if she could supply news clippings from old library archives - surely they would merit as reliable even if they are local newspapers in Estonia?, or maybe not?,

Regards!,

19 May 2018 review of submission by Sdmtri (WebTVAsia)

Hi Quek157, first and foremost thank you for your time and attention in reviewing my submission under the title 'WebTVAsia'! As disappointing as it is that it was declined, I do see where you're coming from with regards to the tone being advertorial-like. Will work on making it more concise and objective for re-submission. However I'm not quite clear as to why the sources were deemed unsatisfactory, as they are third party media sources and not of my own making (as in "...produced by the creator of subject..."). Also for full disclosure I'd like to clarify that I am a current employee of the subject company, and have been tasked as a writer to create a dedicated Wiki page for them. Please do advise if you have any additional pointers to improve the write-up; this is all very new to me and quite a lot to take in! Nonetheless I'll take this as part of the learning process. Thank you again! --Sdmtri (talk) 02:25, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Sdmtri:, hello, do see what we need in a source, it must cover the subject in depth , see WP:CORPDEPTH. for potential conflict of interest, do see WP:COI to learn how to explain it. thanks Quek157 (talk) 09:19, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Quek157, I'd like to thank you again for the guidance, especially after my initiation. Am still ginger about my next steps, and would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. You did advise going to the AfC Teahouse, while Anne DeLong mentioned the Wikipedia journalism project. I was thinking specifically of adding to the article on TODAY, and later on Singapore media. NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018

Hello Quek157, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Deletion tags

  • Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.

Backlog drive:

  • A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Editathons

  • There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

Paid editing - new policy

  • Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

  • The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.

Not English

  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.

News

  • Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
  • The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.
