Cardozo High School, officially called Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and sometimes called 'Dozo by its students and others, is a high school located in Bayside, New York City, an area relatively affluent and safe compared to the rest of New York City. The school is notable mostly for its large number of "thugz" and "gangsta's", and a moderate amount of violence and crime pervades this school, although it is considered to be one of the better public high schools in New York City. In 1998 Newsweek magazine rated it one of the top 100 schools in the United States. [1]

A good number of "AzN" punks, often sporting the latest trendy hairstyles, can be seen attending this school as well. Many of the people who attend this school enjoy flaunting their Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger apparel, as well as their expensive and new-fangled Nike sneakers, whose prices often reach above $100. Many people attempt to pursue the "gangsta'" image, and rap music is highly popular at this school. A large amount of the students who got to Cardozo are from out of the school's district. The school is named for U.S. Supreme Court justice Benjamin Cardozo.

True to its namesake, the school is known around New York City for its law program, offering classes in such subjects as contract law as well as a law internship program. In addition, the school's Davinci program provides students an emphasis on scientific classes. A variety of Advanced Placement Classes are also available. The high school is rated number one in Queens.
