: '''Oppose''': It may be the old transliteration, but [[WP:Commonname]] should prevail, and for now "Akmola Region" outnumbers "Aqmola Region" by about 20 to 1 in book mentions, and by 2,080 to 1 in news mentions (google hit counts). I am trying to verify/clarify the discrepancies in the bounadry for Akmola Province...
This is my image, that a user/customer said was not correct. The one on the left is the old and the one on the right is the current.
This is what I found online which matches mine.
This is what I found at Wikipedia showing boundary for province 3 same as mine on the left and also matches Google-Earth boundary.
[[3]]
however, from the Wikipedia page, go down to the list of provinces and click on item 3 Akmola, click on image at right...image matches mine and the one at aboutkazakhstan.com
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Akmol_obl.svg
Can anyone shed some light on this discrepancy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.173.6.110 (talk) 12:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Spelling of Akmola Region versus Aqmola Region
I reverted the move of this article to "Aqmola Region" because, while recognizing that the Kazakh consonant is generally written with "q", it is the WP:COMMONNAME that we should be using. Batternut (talk) 14:04, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

Akmola Region → Aqmola Region – Akmola is misspelled since its a native Kazakh name where Ақмола is transliterated into Aqmola. Last thing is that even on maps, you can see the region spelled with the letter "q" which makes it a correct common name. Shadowzpaev (talk) 16:02, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose, if we are talking about maps, Google Maps shows Akmola.--Ymblanter (talk) 16:10, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support, Google Maps uses Wikipedia source. If you go in it, you would see description heading to Wikipedia link. The rest do not. Igor1383 (talk) 19:27, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
