Alisha Ilhaan Bø (born March 6, 1997), known professionally as Alisha Boe, is a Norwegian-Somali actress.[2] She is known for playing Jessica Davis in the Netflix drama series 13 Reasons Why.

Early life

Bø was born in Oslo, Norway, to a Somali father and a Norwegian mother (from Trondheim).[1][3] She and her mother moved to Los Angeles when Alisha was seven years old because her mother married an American man. Boe attended two middle schools: George Ellery Hale Middle School and Ivy Academia. She ended up graduating middle school at Hale. She subsequently attended El Camino Real High School[citation needed], where she was involved in the drama program. She later dropped out of high school to pursue her acting career, whereupon she became the first Somali actress to hold a leading role in an American film since Iman.[4]

Career

Boe made her acting debut in 2008, when she landed a role of a young Lisa Swan in the horror film Amusement.[5] A year later, she appeared in the film He's On My Mind as Laci, and in the 2012 horror film Paranormal Activity 4 as Tara. In 2014, she guest-starred in two series, as Tracy McCoy in Modern Family,[6][7] and as Brynn Hendry in two episodes of Extant.[8]

In November 2014, she joined the cast of NBC's soap opera Days of Our Lives in the recurring role of Daphne.[9] In 2017, she began portraying the role Jessica Davis in the Netflix original drama series 13 Reasons Why.
