Valerie "Val" Belton is a British professor of management science and operations research at the University of Strathclyde.

Career

Belton obtained degrees in Mathematics and operations research for her Bachelor's and master's degrees from Durham University and Lancaster University respectively.[1] Furthermore, she bagged a doctorate degree in multi-criteria decision analysis from Cambridge University.[1] She is an expert in multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and problem structuring.[2] She was elected to the Council of the UK OR Society in 1980, their first female member. She was President of the Association of European Operational Research Societies from 2009–10,[3] President of the UK OR Society from 2004–2006, and President of the International Society for MCDM from 2000-2004.[4]
